What's the use in having a multi-disc changer if you can't play random discs? My cheap Ford Escape has this for 12grand less money.....this is ridiculous

 

By random play do you mean random among the 6 disc, or random track among the 1 disc?? I know the random definately works for the disc, not sure if it'll shuffle among all 6 though; the load time between disc is a bit long, so I don't see that as an useful feature. I also use XM and my Ipod quite a bit, so Random comes w/ them automatically.

I can understand wanting this feature, but I wouldn't use it myself, especially with the XM and iPod. I'd be too bothered by the long load times and additional wear & tear on the changer mechanism, if any. I also worry about changing discs on bumpy terrain for fear something will jam as it used to do on car changers in the old days.

 

It's not a feature I would use. For the time it takes to go from D1 to D6 and then back to D3 is just not worth the effort. Record 6 discs with various music and just hit random. When you get tired of that one disc, change it.
