Nextel Bluetooth question

I am stuck with NEXTEL service as my employer has a corporate contract. Now I own a 2004 TL and I would like a phone to leverage the built-in Bluetooth technology (HFL).

Does anyone know what I can do (or buy) to get this going without changing carriers?

BTW: Calling Nextel was a complete waste of time. I could not even find a human on the phone who has heard of Bluetooth, despite the fact that I was transferred from department to department for about 40 minutes.

From everything I've heard, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until 2005...

I have been looking into it too, and nobody knows 100%. Some different retail people think that the new set of phones coming out this fall into next spring might have bluetooth, but Nextel will not confirm or deni that yet till they get closer to release. Other people say that it woun't be until summer 2005 when a second grouping of phones comes out.

Checkout the "Blackberry" - if I'm not mistaken, it's Bluetooth enabled.

I had the same problem. You would think someone at Nextel would know something about Bluetooth and when it will be available and on what products. Our corporate phone is also Nextel so I am trying to migrate to that family of phones from Nokia/CellularOne. The new 830i doesn't appear to be Bluetooth enabled.

I have made several attempts to obtain information from Nextel. I got in touch with someone that was more knowledgable than the others. I have the i1000 plus. He mentioned that Nextel doesn't have anything for the i1000 plus for bluetooth connectivity, but Motorola does!

He said to research for Motorola bluetooth adapters for the Nextel phone.

I have not yet confirmed that. I have been looking at what the AT&T & Cingular has to offer with the v600. Reading the thread above, I can wait a year. I prefer Nextel.

The Blackberry is not Bluetooth enabled. I have one and love everything about it...except the fact that it doesn't have Bluetooth. RIM is rumored to be working on Bluetooth but no real news yet.

As for Bluetooth adapters for Nextel phones, it's my understanding that anything out there right now allows for use of a Bluetooth headset with Nextel phones, but they do not work with the HFL on the TL. The i605 is supposedly the first Nextel phone to have Bluetooth built in, and it doesn't look like it will hit the shelf until early 2005. :'(
