Nextel Blackberry 7520 w/TL. Anyone using it?
Is anyone using this combination? If so, how is it working out?
Are you happy, or is it a bad combination. Does the Direct Connect work through the TL, or only the phone.
Do you think it's worth doing, or should I wait for a regular phone to come out.
THANKS

My friend who works for Nextel demo his to me in his TL. There was a little bit of echo but adjusting the volume in the car worked out most of it, other than that it worked great. Don't know about the DC feature but I don't think it works or he would have shown it to me.
I'm still waiting to see when the next phone is to be released by Nextel and if it even has Bluetooth, also is it going to be a bar phone and how big?
I wish my i830 had Bluetooth, ...and a longer battery life.

It works, but I experience significant echo, so it's almost unusable. And the DC doesn't work either - in fact, it seems like it cuts out the DC functionality from the phone upon pairing with the TL. After it's connected, if someone tries to DC me, I see the message, but no audio comes through?!? And I'm talking about via the phone, not HFL.
But the echo part has been the worst. I even tried playing with different volumes, but maybe I'll try it again....

The echo problem is there at all times. I have not figured out a way to correct it. Thankfully I don't really notice it much after using it for a few weeks......maybe the rattle in my headliner distracts me to a point that hearing myself talk is actually comforting!

7520 Echoes
I've been using the 7520 with the HFL and noticed that for you to reduce the echoes, cover the phone. Apparently the phone's and car's microphones are both activated. Echoes are coming from both mics. I'd leave the phone inside the leather case and that seems to reduce the echoes. The echoes are annoying to the drivers but on the end, the reception is great. As far as the Direct Connect feature, to use it, you'd have to Activate Speakerphone on the phone to be able to hear anything. You will not get sound through the HFL. You can also put the phone to your ears and hear the caller. Very annoying when you're driving.

Nextel 7520
The echos are more than annoying!! Since upgrading from the ATT 7290, I find that I don't use the Bluetooth near as much. As others have said, I have to turn off Bluetooth to use DC in the car.

Got them in at work last Friday. Not impressed. Nextel or RIM needs to add more Bluetooth support (the only service the device offers is Audio Gateway ?!?!?). For the purposes of this thread, it paired great, but echoes. On incoming calls, both the car and the Blackberry ring.
All of that + NO voice dialing = stayin' with the V710 a while longer

I haven't tried muting the BB but that might mute the whole phone. I'll test it out.
As far as voice dialing, you have to manually setup your phonebook. Each phone number is set with a voice name. So if you set Joe, "dial Joe" will begin dialing. Tedious but it could save you some headaches when dialing a number while driving.

the next nextel to come out I am almost positive will not be a bluetooth, its the i930 and it will have gsm instead of bluetooth, and from what I hear they will be releasing an i960 later that will be bluetooth instead of gsm. Just what Ive heard

I had my 7520 in the center armrest today and didn't get much of an echo at all. Maybe that's the solution as someone said earlier.
In any case, I was getting used to the echo so it wasn't a really big deal anyway - but i would prefer no echo of course.

I downloaded the most current software for my 7520 off of the nextel website and have much less of an echo effect than before. There still is a small echo, but much more tollerable than before. Also, the people I am talking to claim that it sounds clearer with no echo at all on there end.
