New TL owner - System Question

I am a fairly new owner of a 05 TL w/Navi. The stero sounds great but lacks power. I find myself listening to music at max level wishing for more power. I thought I could take the car to an audio shop and have a quality amp added to clean up the sound and give me more power. I have been told by several shops that it is impossible without spending a lot of money because of the navigation system. You all seem to know these cars in and out. Please tell me what I need to do to do this. I simply want to add more power to the exisitng system and possibly a bigger sub. Please forgive me but I am not a technical person, most of the technical stuff talked about in this forum is Japanese to me. So, please "dumb" down the response if possible. Thank you!!!!

The OEM system is powered by an amp located by the passenger side footwell. The are six channels for the head unit that are routed to the OEM amp. You would have to cut and reroute these wire to the new amp. The signal is very low from the head unit so you will need something to boost the signal going to the new amps (The Audiocontrol Matrix will do this). You will have to amp five regular channels and one sub channel since our audio system is 5.1 DVD audio (if you want to keep using it). This extra power will still be sent to the OEM speakers so you're better off replacing the speakers too. Do a search and you will find more info.

Thanks for the info. Can the output level on the existing amp be controlled (turned up)?

If I decided to replace the amp and the speakers, does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks again.
