Hey everyone. I just bought a Blk/Blk 2006 TL 6MT Navi. I must say I love this car! It does so many things well.
So here are my questions... I am sure most have been asked and answered and I apologize in advance if I am being a noob.

1. Does the 06 TL have an IPOD adaptor? If so, where is it? If not, what is the best way to do this?
2. I have noticed in a few post people mention that they are able to watch DVDs on the screen. How can I do that too?
3. The background color on my screen is blue, but the menu says I can change it. When ever I select another color, nothing changes... Any ideas?
4. Just how rare or desirable are the 6 speed cars?
5. Does the 06 navi offer XM traffic with subscription or did that come in 07?

1. No Ipod adapter, can use USAA or DICE or some fm tuner. I use Belkin Tunebase FM http://www.belkin.com/pressroom/rele...ClearScan.html - leet and easy install

1. The '06 does not have an iPod adapter; however, there are several options available to you from USA Spec, DICE and Peripheral. Here's what I did: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/dreamcast-w-controllers-vmu-games-173870/

2. You can only WATCH DVD's on the screen using an adapter. Do a search on "Dom's" and you might find what you are looking for.

3. No ideas...never worried about the color.

4. Depends on what you want...but, there weren't a lot of them available at the dealerships (from what I understand).

5. XM Traffic is NOT available for the '06. Only on '07-'08.

1. Get peripheral. Don't waste time with other options.
2. No. You have to mod this capability into the car.
3. I don't know the answer. I know you can change the screen color and I have changed it on my navi before using the menu buttons. You can also hack the navi screen colors for your maps.

Hi and welcome to the forums, and congrats on the TL.

1. The 06 TL does have an IPOD adapter, there are several options:
The USA-SPEC HON2Y - no ipod text, retain XM radio
The Dice Unit - no IPOD text, retain XM, OR YES ipod text, no XM
P.I.E. X3 - No ipod Text, retain XM no ipod control
GROM unit- same as USA SPEC, not tested yet

2. To watch dvd on the navi system, you must install DOM's TVNAV2GO module. Its about 250 dollars, you can see it in the blackmarket section, in the group buy subforum.
3. The blue will remain constant, the only color that changes is the menu color, such as the background to the info in the audio section.
4. The 6-speed's are in much less demand than the 5AT, but they are less of them, making them a little rarer
5. XM nav traffic is available on 07+ TL's. The 04-06 TL only have XM radio.

 

I'm not totally sure PIE = peripheral, but if it does, you get iPod text, you get control of the iPod (including steering wheel controls), and you retain all audio functionality including XM

Two more questions...

1. The car is an 06 like I said but it has "type S" rear lights and grey side markers front and rear. Is this an aftermarket mod the previous owner did?
2. I think I am sold on the Doms Nav install, but I suck at electronics. Is there anyone here or a shop in the DC Maryland or Va area that has done this? I would be happy to pay $$$ for someone from here to hook me up with a clean job.

wait hold on what is everyone talkin about??? i got the honda ipod adapter for my 05

 

the honda adapter sucks, and is more expensive. with that, you cannot control from the ipod anymore and just the car. With the after market ones you can control it from both, at the same time.
