New guys could really use some help..

hey guys, I have a 2007 acura tl type s.....great car. I just replaced my battery and I'm having trouble getting my radio to work. when the car started i was asked to put in my navigation code but the code for the radio wasn't asked for and i can't figure out how to make it come on. I unhooked the battery again to see if it would allow me to do it but still nothing. Like I said, the navigation asked for its code but nothing for the radio. Thanks

ps i have a feeling this might be suggested but there were no failed attempts on the radio, i was never once given the code option

Radio code will be 5 numbers and you'll use the numbered presets to enter it in. If you don't have it or know it...call Acura. They'll verify and give it to you

If you want to unlock your radio use the 1 - 6 buttons under your tape deck with the code from Acura

^that

There is no prompt that comes up - you just type in the code using the buttons described by puddin1997, and there should be a loud beep right after confirming that it worked

The upper center display with the climate control display will show "code xxxxx" indicating when to enter your code.

Turn your car off...then turn it back on. Don't touch anything on the display panel. It'll prompt you, and if it doesn't...it's still waiting for the code. Just enter it using the 1 through 6 presets below screen and you're golden

Dude, press the power button...on the left. the button under your nav screen on the left...big silver knob. this is also your volume knob.

press it, it'll beep and then prompt the code. enter the code and you're finished.

Yea I'm gonna go out soon and fight with it one more time and then I'll probably have to bring it to Acura. Maybe I'll figure out a way to help someone in the future.

Check fuse #5. If that is OK then check to see if you get navi voice prompts.

I mean press the actual silver, round knob. Try pressing both in. You won't hurt anything by trying and trying. Another thing...disconnect the neg. on the battery and try it all again.

Ok after looking again, not only is my radio and navigation voice out, my hand free link is recognizing my phone but also doesn't work. And my voice command feature is also worthless at the moment. Everything that makes any Audio noise is out. Could this be a different fuse, or something else maybe? I apologize guys but at least we have a unique problem we might not have to worry about in the future haha. Thanks again everyone

I checked the service manual and it says to check fuses #5 and #32. If these fuses are OK, then the manual has you check the audio unit connectors on the back of the unit (you have to remove the unit). If the connectors are in OK then the manual walks you through testing for opens (broken wires) that deliver power and ground to the audio unit. If the wires are good, the manual directs the audio unit replacement. Because you only replaced your battery it doesn't seem likely that you broke any wires and the connectors really are hard to work loose. If your fuses are good then it looks like you need a new audio unit.

Ok update guys....I went out again in desperation and checked the radio fuse, it was blown and I swear it wasn't before. I turned the car on and it worked. I then shut the car off and thought "that was too easy". I tried to turn the car back on and nothing! It wouldn't start or even try to. I figured it was a security thing. I got out, popped the hood and unhooked the battery. The car then started with the radio but now the navigation screen isn't coming on. Any idea what the hell this is?

This might be stupid...but did you put in the nav code? Just checking

Sounds like you've got an electrical problem somewhere that you're getting closer to. Just keep trying stuff and you'll eventually get it. Trust me..I've had to troubleshoot my fair share of crap with my audio setup but I can always figure it out with the help of these guys on here. You might also call Acura and see if they can help you..maybe a common problem.

Wow.

And you had no problems before you replaced your battery and all this fun started when you replaced it?

I can't think of anything that would cause this set of problems just by replacing a battery. I mean if everything was good before replacing the battery, what could have gone wrong to cause all of this? Blowing fuses results from shorts and if all that was touched was the battery you wouldn't be causing wire damage or loose connections.

What battery did you get? It's not a reverse terminal battery or a 16V battery is it?

At this point if I were you,I think I would be on the way to the dealership.

Good Luck.
