New alarm bypass CAN-SL??

CAN-SL bypass kit

Anyone use this yet? Sounds great, no need to get into the door panel and supports rear defroster on the TL. Supports heated seats on some models, but not TL.

Since it controls everything via the bus, I assume it eliminates the need to add a relay for the trunk pop (when adding a remote start/alarm)? Can anyone confirm this?

I have installed a VERY similar bypass kit from http://bypasskit.com and I can confirm that you do NOT need a relay for the trunk pop. However, since the OEM remote does not allow you to pop your trunk when the engine is running, the bypass kit behaves the same way. Which sucks if you have a remote starter and you are walking to your car and want to pop the trunk to put the groceries in. However, I may not be COMPLETELY correct in saying this. I only wired ONE of the trunk popping wires (you're supposed to diode isolate two) since it was working when I was testing. But of course I was testing with the engine off. This was in a 2005 Accord which has the exact same databus signals as our car. I will be installing one in my car soon, but this kit looks more interesting for two reasons. 1) It is manufactured in the city I live in (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) , and 2) it has a tach output and turns on the defroster automatically at below 0 degrees C. It all sounds VERY interesting to me. I've written to the company and will try to get my hands on one of their bypass kits.

Let me know if you find anyone who carries it. I've had no luck yet. I wonder how expensive this bad boy is? It's a DYIer's dream!!

As a side note, I wonder why it can't control the heated seats in a TL? My guess is that the heated seats don't route through the car's bus.

Yeah I don't think they do. They are controlled from the security system control unit in the door straight to the seat control unit there. I tapped into my memory buttons, so when I disarm my alarm my seat and mirrors go into the right position.

But yeah, I wish I'd had this bypass kit when I did my alarm install. Would have been a lot easier.

I have emailed the company here in Montreal and I will try to become a dealer of their products.

Well, found one from Audio Depot in Arlington, TX (an Autopage dealer, 817-466-2441), but they want $100 (plus $4 shipping) for it. Talked to Yunjoo, she didn't know anything about it, but she did a lot of research and finally went direct to Canbus to get it.

Let me know if you can get it cheaper. I'm ready to do the install ASAP now that I've found this little jewel!!

OK I've spoken to the district manager. Now I'm waiting for the local rep to call me. I'll have a price for you tomorrow hopefully!

They don't mention whether or not this will do priority unlock (assuming the TL has been programmed for priority unlock) or panic. I assume that it should, since the HODL2 does, but maybe I'm wrong. I don't really care all that much about the panic feature, but priority unlock option is nice to have.

Did you happen to find out anything about priority unlock when talking to the Canbus folks?

The bypass kit I have now (From bypasskit.com) does priority unlock... well, it's an option actually.

I just ordered one for my TL. I am a Crimestopper dealer & my distributer was going to get a stocking order. If there is a demand for these, I may stock some for sale. I do not have pricing as of yet, but should this week.

Haven't heard back from the local dealer... should hear from them tomorrow. Since I'm in the same city as the manufacturer, maybe I'll get good pricing... I'll keep y'all posted!

OK so I can get this out to you guys for $80 shipped but I'd have to become a vendor to do that... if there's enough interest, I could jump through the hoops.

Hey zax123, don't mean to be stepping on your toes, but here's a way to avoid the hassles of becoming a vendor. I found the CANSL for $75.10 ($67.80 + $7.30) shipped:

CANSL from Audiooutfitters.com for $75.10 shipped

I just called and they have 9 in stock. Well, make that 8.......
