New 2011 DVD Map Update is Out - How to install?
Hey Everyone,
So my 2006 TL (Auto Trans w/Nav) is still running the original DVD software dated 2005. It's so pitiful, that I have to travel with a Garmin Nuvi sometimes.
The official Acura Navteq site to purchase the DVD update has been saying to wait until the end of September for a new update.
I'm there on the site now, and it doesn't say this any more. So it looks like the new version is available, as 2011 Orange DVD Map Update v3.A0

Just curious about something I have wondered about for some time. Anyone know why Acura/Honda didn't go with a flash card instead of a DVD player for their NAV system? I know one argument may have been that at the time, DVD's offered more and were established media to use. But you would think that they would have included a slot for flash cards for present or future use and had new TL's go the flash card route instead of DVD. No moving parts, nothing in the trunk to take up space or get trashed, and faster load times.
