Need New Tweeter Suggestions

Greetings, Im looking for a few suggestions for a new tweeter. I currently use CDT DRT-26 A's.

Here is what I am looking for:

1. A silk/fabric tweeter

2. One that can play low, under 2K

3. One that will fit in factory placement

I was thinking Scan speak, but dont have very much info on them, just know they may fit the requirements.

Did not know if anyone has tried to fit a deep-channel tweeter into the factory locations.

I listen to rock/accoustic/punk

Which scan speak? Illuminator d3004?

Why do you need it to play so low?

I dont remember the name of the SS off the top of my head, I was looking at reviews on DIY. Hate to invest in something without hearing it tho.. Also looking at the Seas models.

To answer your question, I really like my mids - CDT ES06, they blend great with my sub but only go up to 2.5 K and I actually think they would sound better a little lower.

was looking at these

2k on a tweet is really low. Like getting into the range of "yeah, it will play it, but not particularly well, or particularly safely." Kinda like 60Hz from a 6.5" (in car)

My mid only goes up to 2.5, so Id like something that is rated to go down to 2k in case I want to cross at 2.3 - 2.5.

I dont understand the issue really, just trying to match speakers and happy with my mids.

Is this your mid? According to CDT your mids go up to 4k. You can cross them at 3000-3500. Opens up the selection of good tweeters you can get.

Yeah it is, but it beams at that frequency. It came with the 550i passive, which has an xover point at 2.5. Person even told me to not play it over 2.5k. Once I went active with the MS8, I played with various xover points and any higher than 2.5 was really missing something. Initially I was going to with a new comp set because I really did not want to xover any higher than 4k with the factory locations, but the MS8 has really taken care of a lot of the sound issues and reflection issues of the factory locations. Im only looking at getting a different tweeter now because I think I want to try something a little more smooth and would really like to stay in the factory locations if at all possible, while keeping my mid. Looks like my best bet is to pick up a couple different used sets and see which one I like best.

on axis is when the driver (speaker) is pointed directly at you.

off axis is when the driver is not pointed directly at you. usually measured at 30 degrees and 60 degrees

Some drivers will drop their frequency responce as they go off axis. Some are better than others. Knowing this helps with tweeter placement and selection.
