well it depends on how much bang you want, are you trying to have a hi fidelity sound system or are you trying to shake other peoples rear view mirrors? you can get a pretty good sounding system for under 400 bucks if you do the install yourself. i picked up two 1200 watt sony 12" subs. all you need is a good Hu with a built in amplifyer and a low pass& high pass fader. i programmed my pioneer to use the stock speakers as mid-highs and pass all lower frequencies to my 1000 watt amp thats running the subs. now i can turn it all the way up and not blow anything.

my bad, i tend to get fancy shmancy with my terminology when it comes to audio, if you just want a Clear and loud stereo apposed to Rattling madness i say go with a head unit kind of like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882117099 . that Head unit will work with an amp because it Has 3RCA outs, the Rca outs are what send the signal to an External amplifyer. a High pass filter basically tells ceartain speakers to only make the HIGH frequencies of sound without the lower ones like bass. a Low pass filter does the exact opposite, most amps have a built in High and Low pass filter, but i dont recommend using ONe amp for your whole set-up. So just buy one amp for your sub, and buy a HEad Unit that has a built in amp thats like 50 watts X 4 and use that the run your stock speakers. then use the amp to power your sub. im willing to help some more, i know this stuff isnt that easy to get the first time around.

hahahaha...

it's so funny how people read what they want to read now-a-days... I thought carlsbadTL said he didn't want to change the head unit (HU)....

real Quick...
All you need is a LOC from navone engineering www.autosound2000.com model number NE-7V... hook that up to the speaker wires going to/hooked up to the factory subwoofer... then run the RCA from the LOC to your new amplifier... and then the speaker wires, from the amp, to your new subs in a box...

You'll get the remote turn on from fuse number #32 in the under dash fuse box or just tapping into the wire (white one) on the cigarette lighter...

Done...

Wouldn't an amplifier with speaker level inputs do the same thing as a LOC (and save on $$ and simplicity of install?)
