Need Assistance....Navigation and XM Traffic - Traffic Buttons missing
Hi Folks,
I'm a Canadian (doesn't seem to be too many of us here!) and getting quite frustrated with the lack of information up here on the XM Traffic feature...so I'm turning to those knowledgeable on this for help.
My 2008 TL Navi does not have the "Traffic Incidents" icon on the Current Location screen, nor does it have the "Traffic Detail" information on the navigation screen, nor does it have the "Traffic" button on the Icon Options display screen.
Furthermore, when I use the voice commands "Display Traffic" or "Display Traffic Incidents" it does not respond to these commands.
A few points. #1. I have the navigation set to the required intervals (800m - 8kms which is 1/2 mi - 5 miles for the US systems) so the icons should show up. #2. I do have an XM Traffic subscription through XM Canada, however XM Canada cannot verify if my navigation system is capable of receiving the signal (dispite the fact, I might add, that the TL navigation screen is on their website for the XM Traffic page!!!)
I called Acura Canada and they claim the navigation systems are different for the US and Canadian markets, which I don't believe. I don't buy that a company like Acura/Honda so concerned about reliability to make a bunch of minor productions changes for these things.
So....I'm thinking one of the following is missing on my car - (a) an option in the navigation software from the DVDs that came with my car (I have v4.62 which I would have thought I'd get the newer option considering I've only had the car for 2 weeks!), (b) something in the EPROM/Computer is disabling this feature or (c) they truly left out some XM Traffic module on the navigation unit.
Can someone shed some light as to what you can suggest I do to experiment here to get the XM Traffic feeds working on a Canadian model? Anyone run into this on the RL, RDX, MDX? I can't be on the only Canadian desparately wanting this feature!!!!

Canadian cars use the 04-06 US receiver that isn't nav-traffic capable. It's not a matter of just switching them out, either, as the connectors are all different. Also, there aren't any Canadian XM traffic report signals being broadcast, so even if you got it to work, there wouldn't be anything to receive.
