Need advice on upgrading my Non-Nav 08 TL

Been reading and browsing the sub over the last couple of days and I am wondering in 2020 what would be the better option: The Nexus install or the factory nav upgrade? I've read things about the Nexus' dying and/or becoming scarce. Also wondering how difficult each would be comparatively speaking and the cost.

there are other options...

you can buy a headunit that mimics the screen in a tesla. it's a giant display.

Yeah I've seen that too, not sure I am digging the look of it compared to the other two.

I wouldnt do the nexus, as it's super old technology. I bought a nexus 7 in 2013...
I dont even use it any more...its so horribly slow compared to other computers and tablets and phones.

and then i wouldnt do the OEM camera/screen either....it's WAAAAAAAAAAAY older than the nexus 7.

you can also buy 10 inch headunits from major brands like sony, pioneer...and if you want to you can try the chinese branded head units

that's the route I would go...a sony android headunit or a pioneer android head unit....10 inch screens and you wouldnt really have to DIY...as it comes with all the wires and connectors...you just simply plug and play.

the only thing i worry with those is the look, i would want something that looks at least close to OEM. Also when I looked at alot of the other units it mentioned losing functionality of the center speaker and XM..

lol at still using XM.

I dont think you would lose center channel with a sony or pioneer headunit...they have all the connections in the back

Well....obviously I use it. I use it for Sports Radio. I also use Spotify for streaming music. So...I know it seems crazy but there are people that use it even if you don't.

well then, that limits you on things you can do.
if you're fine with the limitations....

do whatever your heart is set on!

I'm right there with you man. I don't have an issue with XM. I know quite a few people who like XM. Streamings not for everybody.

XM sounds way better than a streaming source in my ride.
