Okay, I understand that as of right now only the splash screen can be changed for my version (I've read that over and over again here). However, I have a hard time believing it is "impossible" to remove the nag screen. Seems instead that the way to do it just hasn't been found yet. I hope those with the knowledge and ability find the solution soon. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to help?
Is it impossible? Probably not. Those of us that have looked in the past have narrowed it down to the files that need to be modified, but the 4.x system does some sort of consitency check on the files. If they've been changed (or corrupted) it won't allow the new files to be written to memory, thus the upload fails. My guess is that we'd need not only be able to change the files in question, but also fake out the consistency checker, or disable it alltogether, and that seems to be beyond most of us on the board.

Try a program called Alcohol 120%. I burned a backup of my friends 2009 TSX White disc and it works great.

Interesting thread. I'd like to get rid of the OK prompt. I have a '08 TL w/Navi.

I found this link on the net, but not sure what TL generation applies. Can someone take a look and let me know?

I just completed the splash screen hack. Is it normal for there to be about a 5-6 second delay from when the LCD turns on and when the image finally loads? It seems that the custom image only appears for about five seconds, then proceeds directly to the nag screen. It just doesn't seem right.

Has anybody been able to hack an '08 TL Navi? When I looked at my disc, the bin's are named differently from bysin's original tutorial. I tried extracting the bins, one by one and came across some errors in the program.

I put a msg in to bysin and I am hoping he's willing to help the community out.

However, if anybody has already found a way to do these mods, please share.

I hope someone can help. I want to update & tweak hubby's 2006. Searching on version numbers doesn't work.

Are the full 3 or so hacks avail for the 3.8 version or do I need to load the 3.7?
Also, what's the highest version I can load in? Can I load the 2007/2008 TL's versions into this 2006? AND be able to hack the nag & splash?

Hello everyone. I am trying to hack my 3.70 navi to remove the OK button; the problem is the OK patch seems to no longer be hosted anywhere. The file links on the VistaBug forums are broken.

Does anyone have a copy or backup of these files they would be willing to host somewhere or e-mail to me? I hate I have literally every single tool to do the task except for the one data file. Thank you all for any response.

You may also e-mail me on my hotmail account; address is jarodorrell.

Anybody notice that the image loads slower than before? I originally "borrowed" the coolblue1ga pic. It loaded right away when I turned the car on. I have since loaded a custom pic with the same file size. When I turn the car on, the screen stays dark for a few seconds before showing my image. The image isn't up for very long before the next screen comes up.

Either way, this totally kicks ass and I'm super happy with it. Now if only somebody can figure out a way to keep the image up through the legal disclaimer... that would totally rule!

Does anyone know if the nav hacks will be in business again? I have checked Angrydad's forum and it seems to be at a stall.

It would be superb! if someone takes over the new 4.73 and future versions.

Works perfectly. I had better luck with the non-GUI version. I even was able to get a hex editor and modify the navi.exe to change the text. "Booting Navigation... Hold Your Horses" MB

I have to give AD credit for starting this but on his forums he stated how you can't change "AD" as it's part of the programing. I found that rather arrogant so I changed it out of spite.

I modified the files for v. 3.70 without a problem and burned to a CD-R disk and I am getting the error message "check disk" when I tried to load it. Does anyone know why it won't read the disk wehn loading?

What speed did you burn the disc at and did you finalize the disc? ok, so we won't waste time you need to burn as slow as possible and you should always finalize the disc. Also I found I had better luck when I burned all 9 BIN files instead of just the two.

When hacking the 3.50 disk that came with my '05 navi, is it possible to fix the DST problem as well?

can anyone with 3.7 disc send me file BNHH401A.BIN?
I got 3.8 disc today and manage to get trip computer to work but can't seem to get the OK nag removed. so i'm plan to try using navi.exe from 3.7

P.S. I tried using Kenny's mod navi.exe file for 3.4 to load on with 3.8 disc. everything loaded but navi doesnt work.

Volrath, I had 3.3 disc and I followed the instruction for 3.40 (I used Kenny's mod files navi.exe and HMIManager.exe) everything works great.
Also make sure you update the Diag.exe file from 404a.bin file like AngryDad suggested.

I would be VERY interested in getting the trip computer to work with 3.8. Any help would be helpful. However, my old disc is version 3.3. I have a 2006 TL (don't ask )
The nag screen does not bother me.
Thanks in advance

Tell me which file your navi loads. (My TL loads BN2HH12C.BIN). Also give me your email so I can send you the BIN file, unless you want to mess with CEBIN.

Nice mod, got it going with no issues. I have an 05 TL with the 3.40c Disk. The only issue I had was burning the two files to a CD-R, it didn't seem to read the disc, after which I used a DVD-R which worked perfectly.

Bibo,
How did you get the trip computer to work? I've got an '06 TL that I had added these hacks to on ver. 3.50, but when I try to apply the TC patch to te 3.80 files all I get are errors. checksum, filesize mismatch, etc.
I'd really like to get the trip computer, OK button fix, etc back. I'm going back to 3.50 until I can.

just download this file, extract it, then burn the extracted files to the CD. (only if your Navi system is loading BN2HH12C.BIN)

I've searched but have not found how to determine if my system is loading BN2HH12C.BIN or not. How do I check this? Regardless, I burned the files to CD and tried to load, but I get a "Please check your disk..." message right after the "loading software" (or whatever) and that's as far as it gets. I'll try writing to a DVD and see if that works better.

I had the same problem ("Please check your disk) when I tried the burn/install with a DVD. I stuck my old patched 3.50 disk in and it worked fine.

I guess I just wasted $175 bucks on the 3.8 upgrade, at least for the time being.

I hope you follow the instruction on how to load the cd from page one. Couple of users from acurazine tried my files and all of them said it works.

Below is the instruction (slightly modified to the corrected file names)
1. Extract the RAR file and burn the 2 extracted files (BN2HH12C.BIN and BN2HHMLD.BIN) onto a blank CD.
2. Go to your car.
3. Turn your car's ignition to ACC
4. Open the trunk and pop out the NAVI disk (if it's in there)
5. Insert your newly burned CD.
6. Go back to the driver seat, the display will show some dvd read error, now press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
7. Wait another 5 seconds to let it load up completely. Press "version" button on the screen
8. Press "LOAD DISC" to load your custom bin into the navigation.
9. Wait until it's completely done and it will then display another error message about can't read the navi dvd, now take out your bin CD and insert your Navigation disc and you are done!

I'm sure your files are great, I'm farily certain that I've figured out the problem. I looked back at my 3.5 cd files and the only one that I updated was BNHH401A.BIN, so that is obviously the file my unit loads.

I'm going to extract your HMIManager.exe and add it to the ...401A.BIN from my 3.8 DVD and give that a try. I'll let you know.

Nothing's ever easy... I need to trim your file down a bit to fit in my 401A.BIN.

Updated file (COMPRESSED): 868344 bytes Old file (COMPRESSED): 868233 bytes

I'm no expert with hex editors, but I'll give it a shot.

On second thought, after looking at the file in a hex editor, I think maybe I could use some help. I'm sure there are some unecessary lines in the file, but I have no idea which ones they might be.
