Navigation/Electronic issue
Navigation/Electronic issue
I have been experiencing an issue with my Navi screen on my 04TL. About 3 weeks ago my navi screen displayed a message that said do not shut off engine downloading software. After several minutes the start up screen came on (the one right before the ok screen) The start up screen just stayed on and would flash on an off every 10-15 seconds.
I took it to the Acura dealer and they told me I need a new disc, becaue mine was scratched. So despite being skeptical I ordered a new disc. I have installed the new disc and the problem still exits. It almost seems like my entire system is freezing up. The problem has ocurred about once a week or so for the last 3 weeks. It usually lasts for about a day or so and then everything goes back to normal. This time I have had the issue for 3 days.
Any thoughts out there?

Did you get another 3.4 disk or did you upgrade?
Upon getting the new disk, did the system reload the disk?
You can force the system to reload the disk by following the instructions at the end of the hacks outlined here: Navigation Hack Guide: Welcome Screen Mod, Trip Computer, OK Button Nag Removal.
You always have the option to take it back to the dealer.

It might be a bad/loose connector at the back of the nav unit in the trunk. Specifically, maybe the ground or one of power leads is losing contact. I had a similar issue once after installing Dom's TV unit, and this was my problem.
Take off the right liner in the trunk to get to the connectors. Unhook everything, check the cables and connectors, and plug everything back in firmly. Check the fuse(s) as well.

Electronics/Navi issue update
Today I turned on my vehicle and the Navi screen read downloading software please wait. After about 30 seconds the next screen that came up was system is attempting to acquire a GPS signal. After about 1 minute it allowed me to put in my navi code, after that the ok screen appeared and my navi worked for about 4 seconds and then it went back to flashing the navigation system globe screen. Help!!!
