Exclamation Navigation "Auto Mode" Display (Auto/Day/Night) doesn't work?

Hi guys,

My navigation display mode when I set it to "Auto Mode" doesn't appear to function properly - continuously shows a "Day Mode" display even though it's already at night. I've turned on the headlight and it still doesn't switch to "Night Mode".

However, if I set it up manually to "Night Mode", it works fine. Any ideas on how to get the "Auto Mode" display to work?

Thanks in advanced.

If you interior dash lights are set to MAX BRIGHTNESS then it overrides the NAVI setting of auto and keeps the screen in day mode. Adjust your brightness down one (on the dash lights-not the NAVI itself)

Sounds right. That is how it works in the Accord, too.

When you say adjust your brightness dash down one, do you mean in the setup screen?

Its the same buttons used to control the brightness of the gauge cluster. The button's are on the dash on the left side of the steering wheel.

Ah okay, I found it - it's the odometer knob. Stupid me. It works, woohoo.
Man, they should have done that by factory standard. Thanks again guys.

The issue is either the sensor is blocked by something (check manual I forget where it is on the car) OR like mentioned above your dash gauges are set to MAX

there is no light sensor for headlights

the problem is keeping the interior lights on max, if you do that you have to manually change the navi screen from day to night to make it change

Lightbulb

AUTO does NOT work if you drive with your lights on in the daytime.

Since "AUTO" is simply connected to your lights RATHER THAN the actual time of the day.

So i'll just manually change it every nite....could be worse but Acura may want to make the auto function more sophisticated next time.

Why do you want to drive with headlights on during the day? Waste of energy.

honda acura did this as a precaution to legnthen the life of the HID's because our HID's arn't like normal bulbs, they are more sensative and effective, and constantly turning them on an off(going through a tunnel, parking garage, things like that) can shorten the life of them. so you can kind of look at it as a feature. PLUS we have the auto on feature so if your someone who lieks keeping their lights on all the time, then they will go off when you turn off your car.

I agree. Too bad there wasn't a way to just have the fog lights on as daytime running lights. Believe it or not, I'm envious of my Dad's Toyota Sienna at times because his van has daytime running lights. It's a nice safety feature to have as other cars can see you better.

Uh, to be seen better when i'm whipping thru my morning and afternoon traffic commute. Why do you think they created daytime running lights?

The waste of "energy" is not a concern for me.
