Exclamation Navigation antenna?

hi guys i have a quick question about the navigation unit. I own a non-navi TL and would like to instal the factory navigation system into my vehicle and I found a navigation unit but it does not come with any wires or antenna and I am not quite sure if it comes with the HVAC LCD screen, so my questions are: 1) Can I buy the wires and antena anywhere or will i have to buy it from the dealer? 2) If it does not have the HVAC LCD display where would I b able to locate one? Thanks in advanced guys I know i should hav searched but I have been really busy and my friend contacted me about this item and I really wanted the anvi for a long time now so I hope i can get some helpful advice. Thanks!

It's the stock navigation unit that came off a 2004 TL, it's in good condition but the only thing is that it does not include the antennaand wires for it. Oh yea thanks a lot for the skematic.

Tha navi unit that I am trying to pruchase is something similar to this. https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=tl+navigation The site that you gave me wree actually pretty helpful, but the only thing it was missing was the buttons that go on the steering wheel (maybe it's there and I jsut didn't pick it up). And also the non-NAVI TL that have has only the time showing above the center A/C vents while as the NAVI unit displays the XM stations, and A/C. Without that I won't be able to know what temperature I'm putting the A/C on, so I need that piece.

You are going to have a lot of expense involved in putting a navi unit in a non navi TL. The electronics might seem easy, but it's the dash that's going to get expensive. You'll have to purchase and install all the components including the LCD screen buttons and trim around the dashboard where the LCD screen goes. It's going to be expensive unless you can find a wrecked navi TL in a junkyard and purchase the parts you'll need.

I have the same issue, well, somewhat... I have all the components needed (screen, ac display, HFL steering wheel controls, NAVI antenna, DVD-rom unit) with the exception of the bracket that holds the dvd-rom in place in the trunk. I too need all the wiring however. Are there any people out there in the NY area (will travel to you) that have the knowledge and skill to make a wire harness for the install?

You will also need the clock display from a navi that has HVAC stuff built into it.

Would love to see your conversion as a step by step pictorial...hint hint.

I wonder if the factory recall will mean a brisk supply of NAV units.

Once I get the parts and everything I need, my friends (graduated with an EE degree ) will be doing the installation process so I'll b sure to take pictures and do a write up. Now all I need are the antenna and that HVAC display.

Any way I can HIRE your friend?
it's really making me sick looking at all the navi components sitting in a box, when they belong in my dash

I'll try to work something out with them or do a DIY for it. He's on vacation right now and should be back around the 30th. I'll keep you posted.

yeah, read that thread... tried PM'ing the guy but no response... really wish he did the write up he was talking about, but oh well...
This is a big project, definately not something that you can just do on a saturday, which is why I want someone qualified working on my car. If I can't find someone soon, I guess my best bet is to go to the dealer, but I don't even know if they would do it, let alone think what they would charge for it.

You need to do a search on that one but there was a recall on the navi units for the flatline temp displays.
