Question Navi with Voice

So I'm curious...

I wasn't really sold on the navi until the only way I could get my 05/6SM/ Blue ext/Tan int was with the nav. It was simply the only one in the region with that combo and happened to have nav, but I found it online and it was only an hour and a half drive to pick it up... and saved about $3000 buying it online and over state lines, so I could justify the nav. But back to the point.

How many of you actually use the voice during navigation?
Male or female?
What volume?

Personally I turned it off after about 2 days when I realized that my music wasn't fading to the back speakers because of how it was mixed... rather that damned woman had to tell me to bear a slight right onto route two-eight-seven in about a half a mile. So I've turned her off, but have it loud enough overwise so if I want to show someone new in the car that it can be done we can all hear what she has to say when I hit the voice button. Maybe this is useful when driving somewhere completely new to you and there's a lot going on? Otherwise... completely worthless?

The whole point is so you don't take your eyes off the road.

You can press the voice button on your steering wheel and say "What time is it" and it tells you the time. But really you can look at the info center above the nav and it tells you that.

So I think its all for safety. They don't want you looking at the nav screen while doing 80 on the highway trying to figure out what exit you should get off at.

If you know where your going then why have the nav tell you?

I use it all the time just to see how many miles Im actually driving to get to my normal hot spots.

Male voice. Volume about half way up.
I think its kinda annoying when it says:
In one mile, make a slight right
In a half mile, make a slight right
In a quarter mile, make a slight right
make a slight right
make a slight right
stay right

I fucking get it! I talk to my NAVI voice, who Ive named Bob and he reminds me too much I say "I know Bob, I know!"

I didnt know if I would use it but with my TSX loaner today (getting ASPEC installed) with no NAVI and its cheaper feel, Im really missing my TL!

Pearl often reminds me of an upcoming exit when I'm lost in a DVD audio disk during my long (80 miles each way) daily commute to the office.

Many times she's alerted me when I would have driven right past my exit so I don't mind her voice.

female voice

Same as above: I use the female voice to give me directions to unfamiliar locations so that I don't have to look at the screen generally (although I sometimes do look at the screen within a couple hundred feet of an address to make sure I don't pass it). Volume is about half-way. My wife prefers female voice as well.

Limited Voice Commands in TL ??

I recently read at the Acura website that the Navigation system in the TL recognizes more than 290 voice commands, the RL recognizes more than 590, and that the TSX recognizes more than 650 voices commands. Does this mean that the Navigation system in the TSX is a newer and/or more sophisticated system than that installed in the TL and RL? I read this recently and was rather confused. Does anyone have any information as to why these differences exist?

Yes and yes and we don't like it. RL is newer design and upmarket so OK. TSX was freshened this year so got upgraded. I think the new Honda Civic got an even better system. That really Sucks.
