Navi reset and now won't find GPS satelites

I installed the AEM CAI on Saturday, and upon reconnecting the battery and entering the code(s), the navigation took about 10 minutes and then gave me a message saying that it could not find/locate/acquire/whatever enough GPS satelites. It said to re-disconnect the battery, wait 30 minutes, and retry. I did that, at a different location, and same result. I also tried it again today, to no avail.

Here's the thing, I just got Llumar Stealth (metallic) tint installed the week before. The navi worked fine with the tint on, but now I'm afraid that it's preventing the navi from acquiring a strong enough signal to locate the GPS satelites. I've seen others with the same tint on the forum, and they say no problems...have they tried a reset like my situation?

Any help, suggestions. I don't want to have to get the rear window retinted if I can avoid it.

Have you tried doing it with all windows and moonroof open that might minimize interferance with tint

before you go and mess up the tint im sure you paid good money for I would ask if you dealer would help you better to have them say sorry you have to take the tint off to get it going again then to do it without it being needed

I used ceramic Formula1 tint since I was told (true or not?) that the metallic would interfere with the GPS antenna.

I haven't had any problems with mine even though I've disconnected the battery a few times.

i had the same problem when i installed my CAI... when i reconnected the batery it gave me some kind of error message, that it couldn't locate satellites.. try to open the windows, and maybe possibly the trunk and let it sit in an open area , like a parking lot.... and just wait.. i waited in the car on the phone when all of a sudden ..... presto.... it worked... good luck..

I had the same situation last week after I did my audio upgrade. Park the car in an open area and leave it on for about 10 minutes. It will find the satellites.

Here's the thing, I've tried it three times, all in different (more open) locations, and still no luck. I've done the windows down thing, although I didn't open the moonroof. I was quoted on a removal and re-install of a non-metallic tint for JUST the rear window, and they wanted everywhere from 100 to 125 to do it.

Every time I do the reset, it waits 10 minutes, and then shits the bed (not really, it just tells me to try it again). When I turn off the car, and then turn it back on, the regular navi prompt and loading sequence starts, the navi begins, but it isn't calibrated correctly. It knows I'm in Tallahassee, but it doesn't know North from South or where I am on the map.

Needless to say I'm very frustrated with this...

You will have better luck via PM (rather than bumping an 8 month old thread).
