Navi Problem/Question

I have a 2005 TL with about 71,000 miles. I was looking at a new MDX for my dad this weekend and the salesman mentioned the touch screen nav. I made the comment that I wish my TL's was touch screen and he said it was. Well, sure enough, according to the owner's manual it is. But, ifI touch 'buttons' on my screen nothing happens. Is there a setting that turns off touch screen, or is my screen just screwed up? Anyone else ave this issue?

Well, do the on-screen radio controls work? How about the help menus?

None of the buttons on the screen work by touching them. I have always used the toggle switch for typing in addresses or the preset radio buttons to change a station.

are you under warranty? If yes, go to your dealer and have them fix it, the screen is about 3000 dollars!

two both of you or any one else that may have this problem.

here is something that you may try, now if you do not want to take it to the dealer and they can do it.

screen calibration is what I am reffering too.

Here are the steps.

1. Turn your car's ignition to ACC
2. wait for nav to load.
2. press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" @ same time for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
3. monitor check

In that menu there are two more items that need to be checked

monitor calibration and touch calibration.

I am not saying that this will not work, but it is a worth a try to get your touch screen working.

it is possible that it is not sensetive enought or it is not calibrated to the touch.

good luck

Update: Took TL to the dealer. Problem is the screen, car is out of warranty, so I guess mine will forever be a non-touch screen navi. Dealer said it would be about $3,000 to fix.

there is a thread called too late to get factory navi a few down or up from this one. In it is an ebay link. Contact the guy there and ask him if you can just buy the screen for your car.

update

So when I took it to the dealer, only the touch screen was not working. After they looked at it, the entire navi was broken. It worked fine prior to them looking at it, with the exception of the touch screen. After taking it back to them and speaking with the service manager, the dealer will be replacing the entire unit, free of charge. And I've put about 1,500 miles on the loaner car they gave me....TSX's are really slow!
