Navi Image Hack - Delay
Navi Image Hack - Delay
I posted this elsewhere but did not receive an answer. I know this is a common mod, so I'll try this one more time...
Q: After changing the splash screen image to something more personal, there is now a 5-6 second delay after the LCD display turns on and the image shows up. The image then remains on the screen for about 4 seconds before switching to the nag screen. Is this length of delay normal?
I'm using disc v3.30G in an '04 TL.
Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

did you do any other hacks? The more you mess with the extracted .bin files (where the image is) before putting it back togther into the .bin, the more lag you will have. You will need to redo it.
The .bmp image size is 480x234 @ 112320 bytes, according to Microsoft's Photo Editor software. I do not have other photo-editing software to work with.
Right-clicking on the file itself tells me that it's 113398 bytes, stored as 114688 bytes on disc. Understanding that the file is slightly bigger than the instructions advise, this may be the cause of the delay. However, I have attempted numerous times to adjust the color palette from 256 to 173 colors, and Windows is not saving it or reducing the file size.
In addition, I have had the image altered by an individual who uses photoshop, who also mentioned that he adjusted the color palette to 173 before sending me the file. It did not represent this change at all.
No other hacks were done, as I've chosen to keep everything else the way it was. I do not believe that I altered anything else during the mod.
Since the delay isn't normal, I will have to try it again. Hopefully I can get the file size to work to my advantage. I've run into the same issue with three other images I was contemplating using.
