NAVI HACK - finally got 3.6 to work
After much trial and error I finally got it.
I have version 3.6 and couldn’t get it to work until I realized I had missed this in the dumpnavi instructions…
1. At the main screen of the navigation system, hold down
the Map/Guide, Menu, and Cancel buttons for 5 seconds.
2. Hit the "Version" button on the touch screen.
3. Hold down the Menu button for 5 seconds.
4. Write down the filename next to the words "Loading
Filename" (ex. BNHN404A.BIN).
My filename was BN2HH12C.BIN not BNHH404A or BNHH401A.BIN
Once I used the correct file and the KennyC patches, it worked great.
Thank you so much to Angrydad and KennyC and everyone who took the time to post the information. This is awesome!

I need to ask you for a big favor.
I'm having the hardest time hacking the nav 3.60. Do you think you can send me the hacked BIN files or host it up for me(and others with v. 3.60) to use and download?
I appreciate any help you can give me.

Chase,
I deleted the files from the computer I'm on and I drove a different TL to work today. I have a company car that I'm loosing and the car at home right now is the one with the v3.6 nav.
I will try to bring it in tomorrow and email it to you.
Where are you having the problem though? Once I got all instructions right, this did work fine. You're probably just missing one little thing.
My versions all have a picture with my name for the opening screen. That's where I started. So it would be better if we could figure out where you're hitting the roadblock.

I just had an interesting experience w/ 3.60.
Went through the process of adding the trip computer / ac control mod.
I verified the correct boot file name, extracted the BIN, dropped the HMIManager.exe from KennyC's package (Angrydad's would not patch since the checksums were different), repackaged the .BIN (had to use the Bysyn .exe to do it since dumpnavi yelled about the file's being of different sizes).
Loaded the new files from the CD I burnt, load goes okay, then hangs on the "Navigation System" splash screen. Could not get into diag mode at all.
Finally, I had to disconnect the battery and wait a few min. Then just reloaded the unmodified bin's from the navi DVD.
I think I may wait until the procedure is officially updated for 3.60.

I got hung on the welcome screen when I was first attempting this mod and the nav system would not get out of it, so I ended up popping the original DVD back in and got it to work just fine from there. I then figured out what was going wrong with my procedure and now have a modified nav setup, but I was kind of freaked out for a minute there when it was hanging. I never had to disconnect the battery to get out of the hang, though.
Didn't get an error, and was unable to go into diagnostic mode either.

hey guys, I downloaded the BNHH401A.BIN file from Chase265 (post #403) from the huge post and then loaded it into my 2006 TL (ver. 3.6), but it only gave me the welcome screen mod and OK button nag removal. I was unable to get the trip computer. Can somebody tell me how I can add the last part? Thanks

Does the trip computer patch still exist? I can't get the file to open!

3.6 orange disc
Hi,
I just purchased a 2004 MDX and didn't realize that it didn't come with the Navigation dvd. Of course I wasn't to happy to find this out because that is one of the reasons I got the touring package. Anyway, to do the following do I need a disc to start from Acura??

All 3 hacks work
Just wanted to inform you guys that all 3 hacks (Trip computer, OK nag and custom bmp) work.
I have an '06 w/ a 3.60 disc.
Motodaveo described it pretty accurately, but I'll elaborate in what I did to get it to work.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Save everything to one designated folder.
download:
dumpnavi - http://www.linuxkiddies.com/projects...vi-console.zip and unzip it.
kennyc modified trip computer - http://www.savefile.com/files/56150 (password: kennyc)
kennyc modified OK nag - http://www.savefile.com/files/127152 (password: kennyc)
Copy BN2HH12C.BIN and BN2HHMLD.BIN from your 3.60 disc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Create custom bmp (pulled from kennyc's instructions)
1. Create image of size 480x234 and save it to your designated folder.
2. Save it as "Back.bmp" - make sure your photo editing software converts the picture from RGB to Indexed (img->mode->indexed color in photoshop) and enter 173 in the colors field. Also make sure it is saved as 8-bit bitmap. So your wallpaper will be the same size as the original. (113,068 bytes, 114688 bytes on disk) Make sure your wallpaper is the same size or smaller than those numbers, or else it will not work!
3. Go to a command prompt by start-> run, and type in "cmd" and press enter. Go to your designated folder.
4. Now type "dumpnavi BN2HH12C.BIN update Back.bmp" (case sensitive) and press enter.
5. The new wallpaper is now in the bin file.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trip Computer and OK Nag fix
1. unzip kennyc's trip computer file and extract it to your hacks folder. This should create a file called HMIManager.exe.
2. Now type "dumpnavi BN2HH12C.BIN update HMIManager.exe" (case sensitive) and press enter.
3. unzip kennyc's OK nag file and extract it to your hacks folder. This should create a file called navi.exe.
4. Now type "dumpnavi BN2HH12C.BIN update navi.exe" (case sensitive) and press enter.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Burn your custom bin (BN2HH12C.BIN) and the loader (BN2HHMLD.BIN) onto a blank CD or DVD.
2. Go to your car.
3. Turn your car's ignition to ACC
4. Open the trunk and pop out the NAVI disk (if it's in there)
5. Insert your newly burned CD.
6. Go back to the driver seat, the display will show some dvd read error, now press and hold "GUIDE" "MENU" and "CANCEL" for approx 5 seconds to bring up the diagnostic menu.
7. Wait another 5 seconds to let it load up completely. Press "version" button on the screen
8. Press "LOAD DISC" to load your custom bin into the navigation.
9. Wait until it's completely done and it will then display another error message about can't read the navi dvd, now take out your bin CD and insert your Navigation disc and you are done!

sup guys... im trying to find the dvd navigation orange... right now i think im using 3.30 and its really bad... i think im using the oldest version of it... never thought about updating until i just hopped into a 2008 tl with navi loaner car and noticed its poi and everything is so much better... i couldnt even find banks that were in my area with mine.. but the new one... found everything in the area.. guessing its cause my disc is so old... kinda sucks... went to acuranavi.com and it says the discs are unavailable...
anyone know anywhere else i might be able to find one?
and also... i like the new interface with the color on the navi during the day and menu... if i wanted to just go with a 07-08 navi would i have to replace everything?
