'05 Base TL: Can the Factory Headunit be repaired?

Hello AZ!!

I wanted to find out if anyone has ever had their headunit repaired? Mine has 2 cd's stuck inside and I cant get them out. When I press the mode button on the steering wheel and go to CD, it will cut all sound on the headunit until I turn off the car and then back on, and go back to XM. I was told that the unit is dying, but im just looking into options of convenience. I could try and find a used unit online, but I then need to ensure they have the lock codes for the unit also, then update XM with the new radio code into my car which hopefully wouldnt cause any issues.

Are there any options?

When I bought the car they gave me XM for a few months, and then I just kept paying for it... I see other headunits on ebay, but I dont want to pay 100-200 and then it does the same thing.

There are a few places that do repairs. When my unit failed a few years ago, I looked into it and the cost of repair was less than getting a refurb unit. I chose to go with a refurb unit since I didn't want to wait.

Here's a repair I found from a quick search:
Repair 04 08 Acura TL Radio Stereo 6 Disc Changer CD DVD Player 1TB3 1SB4 1TB2 | eBay

Ive looked into going with a refurb unit also and I greatly appreciate the link. My hesitance is the limited warranty that is offered on these refurbished radios. My logic says if you are only covering it for 90 days, you must be indirectly stating that something might go wrong outside that window. Also, then I would need to be assured that I have the radio unlock codes for that unit, and then also having to update my XM radio code with XM service. If I can just fix my current unit, I eliminate those minor nuances.
How has your unit help up being that you purchased a Refurb?

I have had no issues with my refurb unit and its been about 2 years. It came with the unlock code. I don't use XM so I can't comment on that portion.

I have the same exact issue and it's really frustrating. I have like 5 CD's stuck in there.

I've heard it's possible to fix by unhooking the battery, thus re-setting the unit, but I haven't tried it yet.

I think im going to send it off to get repaired and then maybe they can take them out. Upon repair the use of the cd function will be so limited it doesnt matter, but I just want al my features just incase. Im planning to add an isimple setup to the vehicle.
