Navi/Dash Clock Sync MEGATHREAD (UPDATE: all should be fixed now)

I myself would rather enjoy the custom screen graphics, never having to approve the nag screen, and the software mod that also unlocks all of the other functionality that was previously missing like instantaneous mileage, trip computer, etc. like the 07/08. That is the mod that I absolutely enjoy and use the most.

Spent about $300 for all the parts and got the navi updated today. 2007 TL Navi Drive, Martins's adapters and 2007 TL screen with 2004 factory radio. Hardest thing was swapping the damn bulbs over from the red to blue.
The 2007 drive will not show a picture on the 2004 TL screen; you'll need to swap the screen to see a picture.
The 2004 radio works with the 2007-2008 system. The radio for 2007 will not work with older cars for some reason.
Loving the setup, thank you DMZ for making me move my butt and contact martin!
Plus I can use the same DVD out of the MDX if needed! You rock!

csmeance, ain't it great? Did you get the 2021 disk?
DVD drive came with 4.56A which I think is 2008 or 2009 year disk. Has the stupid time update so at least I don't have to mess and hour back and forward for 2 weeks every year. The adapters from martin worked amazingly well and I did get the backup camera one too. I'll be making a seperate thread with a guide on how to do it the best way.

Is there a thread that shows the DIY on how to do this? I am curious about how much work this would take.
For some reason when I open the door to my disc the eject button doesn't light up like the one's on YouTube do. So whatever is in there is going to be in there for a long time because I can't get it out lol

Never mind, I figured it out..
On the back of the 2007-2008 screen ONE plug port (blue) is different from the 2004-2006 ONE plug port (green)
On the back of of the 2007-2008 navigation trunk unit, there are SEVEN plug ports while the 2004-2006 units have SIX plug ports. Though in different locations, it seems the OEM 2004-2006 harness plugs into 6 ports leaving 1 port empty on the 2007-2008 unit. What that last port function is, no idea but as gatr said likely the navTraffic.
So that answers why a plug and play harness is needed for the 2007-2008 screen to work with the stock harness of the 2004-2006.
Still sucks for me since I installed a brand new navigation screen for my 2004. Well, hopefully Acura can release a new navigation disk for us 2004-2006 folks.

The screen will need an adapter, the drive is plug and play. Empty port on the 2007 navi drive is for the backup camera that's std on 2007/2008 models and martin has the adapter for that too for $30 on ebay.

Checked in with Acura today, their tune has completely changed...
They said the problem is different than the previous issues reported (total BS) and they have no ETA on the fix. I will keep checking in every week.
At least they didn't tell me to pound sand, so I will hold out hope for an official fix.

DMZ you took what you believe to be the best route for you. It is not the best route for me. The 1:00 method cost zero dollars to have an accurate clock. No one uses the calendar, so that is not an issue. A new disc does not work either because you cannot eliminate the nag screen and insert custom splash screens any longer. That mod is probably my favorite of all time and is used at every start up. It is also not worth it to me to have a couple updated roads as the OEM Navi is just for overall functionality of the system and any critical navigation is phone based.
There used to be a plethora of OEM refurbished systems out there (both the head unit and DVD player) but that seems to have dried up. The aftermarket options don't seem to be made of nearly as nice plastics as Honda/Acura used, plus you lose the trip computer. Not much you can do, the technology is pretty old. I'm just worried I won't be able to enter in the codes on the screen if the battery needs to be disconnected or replaced.

I wish I had done that hack because the lower portion of my touch screen has become completely non-responsive so I can't get past the lawyer screen. So only use for the system now is the trip mileage feature and some manual control over the HVAC system.

IF the accord is similar that'd be your best bet. I'll post pics in a bit

04-06 TL Clock Update
I recently had a Chat with Omar at Acura Headquarters..Omar stated the the Clock Problems with the 04-06 TLs has been acknowledged and is being researched...Told to check back next Month..around March 2021 to find out the latest.
Alpine the Nav manufacturers said must contact Acura..but basically had knowledge of the problem and that was all.
So do not hold your breath but their must be lots of people calling...No new Nav disks have been sent out ...
and the solution has not really been isolated to disks or chips etc...Stay Tuned

DMZ,
When you swap out the 04-06 Navi screen to the 07/08, do you need to replace the Navi DVD in the trunk as well, or can you use the 04-06 Navi? And do you then need to buy an 07/08 Navi disk?

I called Acura corporate once again with my claim number. Apparently the customer service rep claims that there is NO fix for any 2004-2008 TL's and that they ALL suffer this issue. Clearly that's not the fucking case for 2007-2008. I asked him " Well perhaps release an updated navigation disk for the 2004-2006 TL owners as Acura has for the 2007-2008 TL owners". His response.. "That won't fix it and we are currently working on it. Will call with an update as soon as possible". Followed by a bunch of nonsense about this being an older vehicle and such. I can tell Acura where to Go.......
They might as well hire some of the delusional members here that praise this damn company.

My 2004 screen did not display an image with the 07-08 drive. I needed the adapter and 07-08 screen to get a picture.

Just got my Canadian 2005 TL back Fri past from having my Comptech Supercharger serviced at my non-acura shop and lone behold my clock was not setting itself. After accusing my shop of messing up car the Tech said they pulled the battery cable to service it and touched nothing else. Tech knows my car well and has been servicing it for over 10 years now. After researching and spending hours on this thinking something was wrong with the Navi or sub system(s) I come across this thread and finding out its some glitch or software Y2K thing for the '05 TL clock and calendar have gone back to 2001.
Checking my Navi I'm seeing a the same problem as everyone else here I attached some images. I also tried to pull the battery cable a few times but every single time it comes back with 00:00 and GPS seems to indicate its 2001.07.07 with incorrect time. I tried the set time using the 'H/U Time Send' within the Navi Diag Menu but does nothing, I know this was working last summer it was the last time I used it successfully when I have my alternator replaced.
I have not contacted Acura here in Canada yet, not sure if they would do anything anyway to support an older car?

Quick "official" status update on the Acura Nav/clock problem. I recently realized I have the problem when I got home after a couple of months to a dead battery in my '05 TL. Perusing the Acura web site they are aware of the problem for several early 2000's models, including 00-03 TL's, and claim to have a fix (https://crrs.secure.force.com/acurak...fs=Search&pn=1). This morning I called In-Car Tech Support (888-528-7876) to ask about 04-06 TL's and, after some hold time, the rep said Acura is aware of the problem and is working on a fix. She asked for the code on my disk, took my phone number and told me that Acura would contact me when they had a fix. Given the available fix for earlier TL's, and the fact that the rep put me on hold for a few minutes while researching my question (which suggests she didn't just dole out a stock BS answer), I'm optimistic Acura is working on it. Of course, she couldn't give me a time frame. So in the meantime I'll be resetting at 2:00 pm today (because I don't want to have to do it again Sunday after the DST time change) and hoping I'm not waiting too long......

The code on the disk. I wondered what the rep could be talking about too, but I pulled the disk while talking to her and there is a code on it. It's just below the hole in the disk, 6-7 mixed alpha and numeric characters - I don't have it in front of me at the moment. And before you ask, I think the disk I have is the 2009 update (dates on it are 2008, 2009). She said that was the number she was looking for. Her question and reaction seems to confirm that Acura thinks the problem is with the disks and a new disk will correct things - but that's a wild guess on my part.

Same show different day
I went through the same chat conversation with ACS on 2/9/21. Told me I needed a countermeasure disk and asked for the version number on my Navi Disk. I have the 2009 Orange update disk. After I gave them the version number, I asked how long it would take to get the countermeasure disk and was told 2-3 weeks. That was 4 weeks ago, so it doesn't look like it's a high priority with Honda/Acura. I will push their buttons again on Monday to check the status.
I may be doing the battery reset after Sunday.
