Navi/Dash Clock Sync MEGATHREAD (UPDATE: all should be fixed now)

Based on reports I've been seeing about various bits of hardware losing the date/time at midnight 12/31/20, Honda may have "windowed" their software out of the Y2K bug, passing the overflow down to this year.

Also note, I am pretty sure someone else here was complaining about this issue a few days before the new year. I am still guessing/assuming this is a software issue...but it would be interesting for those that have the older Nav models to post which DVD version they are using and if they are experiencing issues or not.

Some programmers remapped the beginning of the 1900s to the beginning of the 2000s to "fix" the Y2K bug. The number of years remapped appears arbitrary, but some chose 20. So 1900 through 1920 became 2000 through 2020... and now 2020 has come and gone.
It's still just a guess, but this is affecting other hardware besides just TL navs. That and year overflows are a likely cause when the failure occurs on New Year's Day.

I'm getting on the horns today with the typically useless Acura Client Services about this since practically all '04/5/6 TL's appear to be suffering from this malady.
Stay tuned ...........

Called ACS. Apparently, they're now aware of this as the problem is being posted on multiple Acura sites. A tech support technician will supposedly be calling me back in 24 - 48 hours. Keeping my seat belt buckled for this one, believe me!

Same. Nearly same day as you based on your post date. Plus several more thingsi I already ogged in my own post.
Differences are: mines a 2004 Canadian TL with Nav. Your upper clock WILL NOT be timed right when you try the Neg Batt. Cable pull and general car reset though, if its like my similar prob is.... and it will not solve the prob or set the GPS/Display/Clock timings right or synchronous

Hey guys, I am having the same issue in my 06 TL w/NAVI. My battery did not die or anything, just one day I noticed my clock was off by a few hours and I haven't been able to change the time since! In the clock setting, I see 0:00 and changing the hour/minute doesn't do anything. Was thinking of unplugging my battery and letting it reset to see if that would help.

1/2 hr pull only made it try requiring the sats again so did an over night batt pull (nearly new battery, AGM type, could use the time off for a smart charger refresh any way as the TLs seem to have batt killing parasitic drain for the most part)
Next day, finally it took the full DVD reload like it should, had to reenter the radio code BUT NOT the Nav code?? So its not a step any more? Something must be frying inside, I always had to enter the code after a batt pull or replace.
All the same error codes and exceptions from deep inside the mechanics diagnostics menu access as before, same 0:00 clock prob, same mismatching clock to display to GPS timings, same Jan 2002 calendar app day stuck, same voice response of "12:00 a.m." when asking the car the time, same May 2001 year given as being the GPS acquired date. ALL the dates and times are screwy and not matching, nor can be changed (still)

As a wild guess, Acura will be required to release an updated Navigation Disk to correct this issue. They figured the 3rd gen TL would either be in the savage yard or the owners with Navigation have non function alpine units

I have an 05 TL and can no longer adjust my clock. Even the GPS date and time in the diagnostic mode is incorrect (5-25-2001). I talked with Acura customer support via the chat function. They said it is a known issue and I can expect a DVD in the mail within the next 2-3 weeks. I just needed to provide them my address and current DVD version number. Glad acura/honda is issuing a fix for this.

My GPS time is bang on, it’s just offset by 1024 weeks. Right now my GPS says the exact correct (UTC) time but May 26 2001.
see this wiki:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPS_...umber_Rollover
my assumption is that the GPS is doing exactly what it’s supposed to, but isn’t smart enough to find the right 10 bit week offset. Doesn’t matter for nav purposes, but the remainder of the infotainment is confused by the fact that it isn’t going to exist for a few years so it just can’t sync up. Going back to OP the problem isn’t that Acura software doesn’t read far enough into the future, it’s that it doesn’t know about times far enough in the past.
helpful, probably not. But I’m pretty sure this is what’s going on. I bet if you guys look at your GPS time you’ll see the same thing. If anyone can figure out how to pop us back up into this 19.6 year rollover I’m all ears.
as an aside, I’d guess everyone who this has impacted has had a battery disconnect/reconnect recently. For me I got this wonderful surprise after doing my accord 5AT swap which of course involved removing the battery for a spell.

Any update on this? Mine is still doing this also. Can’t adjust the clock and it is off.
I tried chatting with them and they told me I needed to go to the dealer to have it inspected. I told them it was a known problem and other members were getting updated disks sent out and he said he couldn’t do that...

Chatted with Acura in the US as well and they said the same thing.

I used the chat feature as well today and they took down my VIN, mileage, dvd code and version, phone number and mailing address and told me they would need to investigate and would likely be calling me back. I am in the USA

ACS has proven more often than not to be about as useful as tits on a door. I have a buddy with a Lexus and the couple of times he's had to call them, they've always swooped right down on and corrected any issues he's had.

I don't really expect Acura do anything regarding a 14-17 years old electronic system, and no the new disk fix is not possible since the orange disk has been discontinued in 2014.
You have two options, either deal with it or retrofit a 07-08 unit (who knows how long that gonna last) or do a tablet mod.

If it matters, I'll be heading to the dealership shortly.. I doubt there's anything they can do, but i'll ask.

So, there was nothing that could be done at the dealership. They tried everything I did. The technician did call tech line and Acura is aware of the situation but don't have a real fix. Acura said they are trying to resolve it with doing something with the satellites. I don't think that's the fix either.. I'm almost sure it's something related to the navigation unit needing a proper disk upgrade to correct the issue. They are also aware the 04-06 TL's w/navigation are affected.

reason they stop the orange disk because the white disk share with other Honda/Acura platform through out the various years span, I think it up to 2005-2014 model. Anyway I am not counting on Acura actually gonna fix the issue, especially for a 17 years old car.
