Unhappy MusicLink and newer iTunes

The MusicLink instructions seem outdated for the later versions of iTunes (and not specific enough for the various Acura models). I have an '07 TL-S.
Q1: What are the exact iTunes settings needed to properly get the voice control lists on the iPod?

If I select my iPod in iTunes (v7.3.2 on a Mac, FWIW), on the Summary tab, I have "Manually Manage Music and Videos" selected. If I update my library (purchase songs, etc.), the changes don't appear on my iPod. I click Sync to do a manual sync, but nothing happens.
Q2: How do you get the stuff updated onto the iPod?

What's the progression to use the TTS software? I typically put my iPod in the dock, iTunes opens, followed by TTS. I go back to iTunes, sync the iPod (or at least try, anyway), then go back to TTS to update that database.
Q3: Is this correct?

Beyond the 16 different ZZZTTS... playlists, I have hundreds of extra entries in my iPod and iTunes Music library, each of one or two seconds in length, the spoken name of the song, artist, and albums.
Q4: Is this normal?

Other problems I'm seeing include:

Finding artists or playlists doesn't seem to work right. My Acura thinks it has Turretts, spewing all sorts of letters or jibberish in very rapid succession. I can't seem to get it to say artist names, for example, for the life of me.
Q5: What are the exact, repeatable steps to get a certain album name (for example) to be selected and played?

My Recently Added playlist has a slew of TTS entries in it. If I try to play the playlist on my iPod at the gym or in iTunes, I don't want to hear all this crap, just the music!
Q6: Is this avoidable?

Thanks for help on any or all of the above. I know that MusicLink is junk (no screen display, horrible TTS interface, etc.), but it's what I've got, and would like to make it work as best as possible.

BlueHoo, I had the same problem. You can't let your itunes version get updated. Uninstall itunes, and go back to version 7.0.1.

Download that here: http://filehippo.com/download_itunes/?1630

It really makes a difference. I couldn't select anything correctly when my ipod was synching with 7.3.x version of itunes.

As soon as I reverted to itunes 7.0.1 and used the latest TTS software from the acura musiclink site, the musiclink worked exactly as advertised.

Good Luck!

I guess that works for those who have older ipods. But with the new ipod's (3rd gen Nano, touch, classic) they make you upgrade. You can not transfer music without upgrading to itunes 7.4.1

Check-mark the box "Manage your music manually" or turn off Check for iTunes updates.

Thats how I've always set up itunes. But upon plugging in my new video nano, it said in-order for it to sync i had to download the new itunes. I tried to use my old itunes but no matter what I tried it wouldn't let me. I called apple and they told me the new ones are not compatible with past itunes.
