I'm thinking of taking the option of returning the phone for credit toward a new one but I have a few questions.
They say they will refund up to the purchase price. What exactly is that, I dont have a receipt.
Also, what new phones are out that would be a good exchange?

Does anyone know how long you would be out of a phone? I got the settlement in the mail, and it says that if you want to keep your service but give up the phone you will have to ship it to them. I'm assuming they have to get your phone before they give you a settlement and I can't be without my phone for a few days.

Compatible Verizon BT Phones?
Is there a list of compatible BT phones from Verizon? I noticed one of the options on the V710 settlement form is to return the V710 for the purchase price of a new phone. I was wondering which of their other BT phones were compatible with the TL and do any of the other phones have the ability to upload the phone book from the phone to the TL? Thanks.

The other reason is, look carefully at what you are signing. It said something about YOU WOULD HAVE BOUGHT A DIFFERNT PHONE THAT WASN'T CRIPPLED. If that's the case, why would you get another phone from the same company that is crippled in the same fashion? I'm worried that choosing this option might be grounds to invalidate your claim.
Finally, I don't think the TL has the capability to upload your phone book no matter what phone or vendor you get.

Your right, it's not clear what the terms of a new phone would be. I don't recall the statement about "...buying a different phone that wasn't crippled" but I do remember that the settlement stated that you must own another Bluetooth enabled device that supports object exchange or file transfer features - so does the TL not support these features anyway?
One thing is for sure, the attorneys will come out of this with some pocket change!!!

I just looked it up at the link in the first post of this message. It's listed in Section A of the form titled "Certification under penalty of perjury." It's statement #4.
I own another Bluetooth enabled device that supports either object exchange or file transfer features or I had intended to purchase such a device.

Unfortunately the V710 and E815 are crippled intentionally by Verizon to get the users to use their online services to transfer pictures ringtones, etc.
There is a relatively simple fix for this by editing the seem file on your phone. The whole process takes about 15 minutes and it unlocks all the phone features while maintaining the phone functionality. I did this to V710 and E815 and had no problems with either phone. You will find everything you need here http://www.inetron.com/

Just a word of advice. It might be a good idea to call Verizon and check to make sure they got your paperwork. I just talked to somebody on another forum that called them and they claim they never got it. Fortunately they say that they got mine.

Why the e815 still crippled?
I know the economic reason for crippling the Bluetooth profiles in Verizon CDMA phones.... greedy bastards that they are.....
...and it pisses me off that I spend heavy dollars for a technically advanced phone only to have the carrier cripple its better functions....
But, if Verizon lost a class action law suit on the 710, why do they still do it with the e815 that I just received from them?
Do we need to start another law suit?
Or was it simply a matter of notice/deception on the 710?

Verizon is probably justifying now that they have the warning on the package now so they are legally entitled to do so. I'd say if you're in an area where Cingular or T-Mobile offers you service as well...switch to a GSM provider.

They also say, under BlueTooth features: supports phone book/date book information sychronization with Verizon Wireless Mobile Office Kit. I think this is their version of Moto Office Tools (or whatever it's called) but that relies on a data cord hard connection, doesn't it? Why would they list this under "BlueTooth Wireless Technology" unless they were being deceptive again?
My nephew, a Verizon Customer Service guy, said that the phone will not do a wireless sychro of phone book from Outlook. Is he correct?
What a waste!
