Motorola V557 work with HFL?

I have an '04 with Navi. I have never used the HFL, and I am in the market for a new cell phone. I am researching the Motorola V557 (Cingular), but I haven't seen any comments as to whether or not the phone works well with the HFL or not. Does anyone have first hand experience with this phone and their HFL?

The 557 works fine, it's a replacement for the V551 which looks exactly the same for the most part. Same Software.. You shouldn't have any problems at all.

Similiar, not same software. Remember the V557 has the media net live ticker. If I had time, I would go look at the firmware cause Cingular did some tweaking on the V557 too. At the initial release, there was some issue with preloaded java apps not having them as "read only" so if you deleted them, your phone would be hosed. At bootup, the phone would look for the programs and if they weren't there, the phone would freak out and crash.

No, I have not purchased the phone. I have my eyes on the new Motorola SLVR now. Supposedly, the motorola phones are supposed to be one of the best for bluetooth functionality.

Sorry, I was unable to help.

I just purchased the V557 from Cingular, so I'm hoping it will work with my TL (which I plan to purchase in the next few weeks)! I assumed it would since it was related to the V551, but now I have doubts. Anyone else out there who can verify that the V551 will, in fact, work okay with HFL?

Many thanks.

V551 works well

My V551 (Cingular) works great on the TL. I have never "paired" a phone before, so it took about 3 minutes to pair, including reading instructions.
Only downsides are 1) no power indicator on MID display, and 2) bluetooth uses more battery energy compared to prior phone (you can set up a shortcut to turn off bluetooth when away from the car).
The V557 is an update to the 551 and should work as well.

^^^^^^^Exactly.
I also have the V557 w/ Cingular and it does work well except it doesn't show the battery strength as someone already aluded to. Otherwise, it's perfect (although not the prettiest, nor the weightless of phones...but it works).

I'm sorry, but coming from a Motorola V551, I think Sony Ericsson beats Motorola in the bluetooth area. I've paired many Sony Ericssons (T68i/T610/S710) to my computer with no problems. The Motorola however works when it wants to.

The Motorola does have the upper hand on reception though. just my

I have had some problems with the call waiting, where if I'm already on one call over the HandsFreeLink, a second incoming call causes the first call to disconnect once the second caller goes into voicemail. I called the HFL help desk and they weren't able to help me. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or does anyone have a fix? Thanks.
