Not TL specific, but it's an interesting idea:

if I was to put a carputer, I wud stay away from mac, just because its hard to get all kinds of cool software for its OS. PC will be my first choice.

Oh boy, here we go...

What "cool software" would you be running on your carputer?

Mac's are already running BSD Unix, just look under the hood. :-)

As far as cool software - yes, you can't get viruses, trojans, and spyware for the Mac..

If thats the case, just purchase or download "virtual PC for mac" and it'll basically allow you to switch to Microsoft mode and use any PC programs you want.

No you only can use word programs and such because the emulation isn't that great.

You can run any Linux app on the mac. With VirtualPC 7 you can even run Windows apps on the Mac (but they run VERY slow and require at least 1GB of RAM). I do run Quicken 2005 for Windows on my iMac G5 (the Mac version of Quicken is awful).

BTW, compared with a Windows PC, the Mac comes with a far nicer set of software. Nothing offered on a Windows machine can touch the iLife package for example.

I switched my primary machine to Mac about a year and a half ago and haven't looked back.

The argument isn't that Macs are superior to Peecees, but make more sense in this type of installation. The application interfaces lend themselves to ease of use and readability on smaller screens, which is ideal for a carputer. Plus, the Mac mini is $500 with decent specs, and comes in a form factor untouchable by the PC case market. You could probably fit a mini in one of the pockets in front of the shifter in the TL (hint, hint )
