LOC Tap Location for Sub Pushing Amp
First, I want to install 2- Alpine 12's and a RF 500.2 amp.
I have read countess threads on LOC's - what kind, what location, issues, ect. Some people say put before factory amp, some say after. If I tap into the line after the factory amp I don't want any low frequencies filtered out before it gets to my aftermarket amp. Navone LOC's apparently are made to be installed after the stock HU implying that it does not need an amplified input.
This would make me beleive that I should take the LOC input from lines before the factory amp. Also, if the LOC is a 2-Ch device, should I take it from the R and L rear speakers or tap both channels into the sub line.
Sorry to beat this mangled dead horse, but I need clarification. Thanks!

any kind of loc u do needs an amplified signal to work properly. any loc you use also needs to be tied into the sub line for the subs. you connect one line left or right to the sub line and then split the rca signal with a Ysplitter to the amp and you'll be ok......otherwise problems occur.

Exactly what Tripn said. Thats the way I did it. And you maintain FULL controls of sub via Bass Controls and Sub levels. That is the perk of pulling it from the sub line.
If you try to do it the way you want, its worthless cuz if you want more bass at a particular moment you have to increase your rear and decrease your front......

I appreciate the helpful responses, I will give that a try.
One question that I may have in the future is that if I am going to upgrade the 4 main speakers (FR FL RR RL) and amp, would I simply do the same thing with a 4 ch LOC into a 4-Ch amp after the stock amp or would I put in an LOC after the HU and into new amp? The answer might be the same, so I apologize if it is.
thanks!
