Infinity speakers..

Ive noticed alot of people on here have gone with the polk audio and have gotten great sound.. Ive been doing some research and what i want to get done is get the most sound out of the stock radio without having to add an amp for the highs... IMO, i think the infinity 2 ohm coaxial speaker along with the 1011t tweet in the front would give the most sound.. What do you guys think??

I also plan on adding a subwoofer and amplifier... If i get enough sound out of the highs, id run 2 12's, if not id probably stick to 1 12..

You're gonna have to amp those infinitys if you want good sound, especially if you're putting a 12" sub in the rear. it will drown out every other sound in the car.

But i think it will sound alot better than stock... and possibly substanally better than the polks because these are 2 ohm speakers...

^ 100% without a good mono amp for sub and a seperate 4 channel amp for interior speakers, you will not get the sound that you want..there will never be enough juice.

I too am looking at the polk/ infinity speakers.......Here's what I know about speakers.....Everyone's ear is different. A pair of $1000.00 speakers might not sound as good to you as a pair costing $200.00. Buy the ones that sound better to you......that being said I can't find anywhere that has both, for a side by side. BTW are you comparing the infinity 2 way or 3 way to the Polk?

well you are keeping the stock headunit so i don't see why it wouldn't work..to add subs i think you need a hi-low converter..not too sure..i'm sure someone else can chime in

I've installed custom sound systems before, but how do you hook subs into the stock head unit... is there an RCA output on it?

the stock sub has its very own channel. It has a factory harness that it connects to the factory sub. In order to feed a signal to an amp for a sub upgrade, you will need to cut the factory harness and install a Line Output Converter or a Line Output Driver to tone down the output from the stock signal so it can go into an amp. These LOCs will also convert speaker wire to RCA so you can simply connect to an amp input.
