I know about the 8300. I thought about the Chocolate (8500), but I didn't like the idea of a sliding numeric pad. The 8600 is a newer version, looks similar to a V3 and has micro SD slot for music. I got a chance to upgrade for a lot cheaper than I thought. Wanted some opinions before I decide. I know Howard forums has an entire section about it but wanted opinions from someone who has paired it with our cars. Thanks anyway.

nope! everything works perfectly. Shows signal strength, and battery life. It kinda makes a "cackling" sound when you start making your call, but it stop before you hear the 1st ring. That's the only thing that i could think of that would be a problem.

can you be more specific?

Do you mean that when you are on the phone already, and get into the car, you can't transfer the phone call to the car? In that case, i don't think you can, b/c i can't.

Also, w/ regards to transferring the phone book, you have to do it via the way the service manual describes it. You have to do it one by one. Then again, i have an '05 TL. I'm not sure if the '06-07s have that feature (ability to transfer the whole phonebook to the car).

Well I have this phone. So far I cant answer received calls... Everytime I get a call and I hit the button to answer it I see the HFL blink and the radio comes back on..

I look at the phone and its still connected. They can hear me and my radio. But I cant hear them. I have to manually connect it.

I checked the HFL support site and it looks like this phone is not compatible....

Do you have the HFL set to "ring" or "voice" notification for an incoming call? If it is set to voice switch to ring and it should correct this issue.

I have the LG8600 in my 07 TL-S. The phone book does not transfer over and you have to manually enter the numbers into the address book on the navi and then dial from there. I cannot get it to dial out using the voice command. I can recieve calls perfectly though. Sometimes the caller id pops up and sometimes it doesn't...for the same incoming #. I emailed the folks at HFL support and they said they will not be making any updates to the HFL to have the LG fully functional. They said

"We have a very rigorous testing procedure and unfortunately, the VX8600 did not pass our testing for compatibility with HandsFreeLink. There were too many
issues with the phone.

We are only able to provide support for the compatible phones listed on
HandsFreeLink.com. The phone has to have Bluetooth and a "handsfree" profile
and to have passed our testing in order to be compatible. A "headset" profile
is not compatible with HandsFreeLink. We do not have any other knowledge
regarding this phone or have any troubleshooting tips. "

Anyway, they won't do anything more than they already have basically....

LG 8600 Won't take Pauses

I just got an LG 8600.. it seems to work fine with my 04 TL, but when I call a number with built in pauses, the call terminates immediately. The message on the phone itself is that the call failed. Is there any way around this or am I going to have to return this phone. Thanks

Michael

the phone itself is good but not great. the numeric pad is flat so its hard to get a feel for what you are pressing which leads to hitting the wrong number or letter key. the phone is sleek and slim with a pretty loud music player. one flaw is the speaker phone, a lot of people complain at how low the volume is when it's on speaker. the phone works with the HFL but doesn't seem to transfer your phone book, only answer/end calls and shows the number Not name of the person calling or dialing out. you can also add names into your phone book manually and state the name you wish to call.

on the HFL website, it says "Incoming calls" are fine but "Handsfree" does not work.

Not sure exactly what that means.

So changing from voice to ring as mentioned above didn't work?

I have this phone and it works just fine. I can answer incoming calls, make outgoing calls, and transfer calls from the TL to the phone. It also displays the phone number, signal strength, and battery life in the MID. You might want to try dialing *228 and updating the software on the phone (press 2)...that might help out a little. And disable the "You have an incoming call" voice when you receive calls. Hope that helps.

Wow, great news!

Are you sure it is the EXACT phone pictured earlier by TranceMission? (LG 8600)

By the way, *228 does not update firmware of the phone. That has to be done through data cable (maybe bluetooth can also).
That updates like roaming things or something like that.

May I ask the firmware number on your phone? (it's probably under settings > phone info) something like that.

Thanks

Yes, I have the LG VX8600. *228 updates the software...I didn't say firmware.

There's no firmware version in the phone info but my software version is: T86VZV02

i've had the phone for about 6 months now, and I've had no problems. The only thing i can't do is see the name displayed in my MID when i send or receive calls. I do, however, see the numbers displayed in my MID when sending/receiving.

My software is also T86VZV02, and I haven't updated the software. I've had it since the 1st day it came out.

Maybe the bluetooth in the car needs to be updated?? (i have an' 05 TL, so maybe those w/ '04 are having the problems)

May somebody confirm what incompatible features are NOT correct on the Acura HFL website below?
Include your car model year please.

We can then update the sticky with better information.

you have to go into the settings of the HFL and she (or he, whatever you're in to) will guide you through it.

the only thing is now I dont get any ring or anything, my radio just shuts off but its cool I can still hear my phone go off. But so far its working.

Thanks for the advice guys....

I must thank you for the advice. I was about to get rid of this phone.

Changing that setting worked like a charm.

First hand experience with LG 8600 on 2007 Acura TL...

I just experimented with the LG 8600 and Acura HFL
Unfortunately I had problems with outgoing calls.

-Incoming calls work fine
-Outgoing calls work sometimes. (For some reason the HFL goes through the phone instead of the car and "transfer" does not work)

So basically sometimes the phone sound goes through the HFL and sometimes through the phone. And most of the time you can't transfer, I haven't figured out why though.

Any thoughts/advice?

with mine, I deleted the bluetooth and added it again. Sometimes it answered and sometimes not.

But I changed that one setting and it works wonderful not. Try reestablishing the bluetooth...
