Buy one of those LED strips that get power using the cigarette lighter in the center console.
You'll need to bring them all together under the center console, but no wires would show and no need to splice into any factory wires.

I know this is a bump from yesteryear, but could you go into more detail about this? Very interested

He was pretty detailed, you go buy LED lights that power using a cigarette adapter ..

What part of that is confusing??

I guess our definition of "pretty detailed" is different, his DIY post on doing it the normal way, THAT'S detailed lol

My questions:
So if I get 4 LED strips, that each power off the cigarette lighter, how do I plug all of them to one port?

How would one go about hiding the wires under the center console?

By center console cigarette lighter, is that the one under the armrest? If so can the exposed one be used instead and still be able to cleanly hidden?

under the armrest yes.

if it's exposed then you won't be able to hide it as easily

Thanks for the link, and the clarification. I should be able to go from there. I've never seen the type of adapter before so I was confused logistically, I figured I would have to take the trim around the armrest and all that and funnel it through there; but stuffing it under the armrest is super easy

When I had mine in, I just used a fuse tap and used a fuse that got power when the key was turned. I had an inline switch as well so I could still turn them off. That is not really messing around with any of the car's wires/harnesses since it just plugs in.

I like the fuse tap idea even better, as I'd prefer to keep the center console for my charging needs.

Which LED strips/kit did you get?

It was an Alpena pair from autozone. They were like $25 and I never had a problem with them. If you don't really want to spend that much, I used to have cutequeen ones from amazon in my old car. They were kinda junky, but they always worked decently, and I paid $7 for 4 of them. I'd highly recommend using a fuse tap over jamming a wire into your fuse box which I used to do when I was like 17. I forget what fuse I used, I'll have to check if I remember to. I've had red and blue and I will say the blue kinda bothered my eyes at night sometimes whereas the red never really caused any eye strain.

I went ahead and ordered this kit, along with a cheap set of fuse taps. I hope to install over the weekend

I believe my friend actually has that kit. The color changing ones are the way to go. Good luck with the install even though it's pretty simple

Anyone have pics of this in their TL? Just bought an 06 with black/black interior and I think blue LEDs would look nice but all the ones on Amazon look too bright and really tacky. I was inspired by the floor lighting in an A8 we just got at the dealership I work for and think it would be a nice touch in the TL
