I have an 05 TL and just received a promotional emailing from Acura with the subject:

"$99 Plus Free Shipping on the Last Map Update Release for your Acura"

Is it true? Is 2014 the last year of the orange DVD update for the 3G TL? I haven't updated since 09, does anyone have a list of what has changed in 2014? Any improvements besides the maps in the software with the orange DVD since 09 (without hacks?)?

Yes when I called about it they said the 2014 disc will be the last update. Seems they only support for 10 years at a time.

It only updates POIs and streets along with new addresses from what the Acura navigation Center told me. I was debating if I wanted to upgrade but since I dont plan on keeping my car for very much longer no point in spending $100 on a navi disc I wont be using.

 

does this disc change the interface at all or just provide updated maps?

 

Just updates the maps.

 

It depends on when you last updated. If your Navi does not correctly adjust for the 2007 change in the daylight saving time schedule (second Sunday in March to first Sunday in November), the update will fix that issue as there was a software patch included a couple of releases ago to address it.
