Klippel results for the Dynaudio 430 mid.

Posted over on DIYMA: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/...l-testing.html

Sure to start WWIII I'm sure but interesting none the less. Can't wait to get these things in the car. As far as I'm aware, this is the first time any klippel results on Dyns have been posted.

Hey Matt,

Nice meeting you at the get together, I sent my DSP to Matt R, and made some changes to the system right after the meet. I found I ive been missing for a very long time..... Its sick, now I cant wait for the DSP to come back.

Nice meeting you too. Nice TL-S as well. We should've parked next to one another. Salt and pepper lol.

I'm interested in your results, I've heard great things about Matt R's work. I wouldn't mind sending out the stock HU to see if we can get better SQ out of it but a little hesitant to send the MS8 since I will shortly be upgrading. Definitely let me know how you like the changes.

you really should think about the Bitone or the DSP6, if your after 2 channel audio, I believe are the best choice at the moment, alpine is good, but...............

The H/U mod may not be a smart thing to do. Its expensive and the deck becomes very sensitive. plus $400 of the mod is the line driver in it.

I think once we get a good clean managable signal out of the stock unit, reclocking and all that can be done with the right mods done to a DSP. Well 4 more days and its back in........

Have you got your drivers in yet? (430 & 650)

Still haven't gotten the 430s. Not only have I not gotten them but somehow water got spilled inside of the box. Needless to say I won't be sending anymore drivers for klippel testing. Hopefully they arrive today. The 650s are in. Better midrange than the 162s for sure, very close to the same detail as the 3-way Esotec system had and in some ways better. A little more pop in the low end as well. I can't wait to try it as a 3-way.

I agree on 2 channel as the way to go. I tried the center with the MS8 and it's pretty neat when you have passengers and want the best sound for everyone but I usually leave it off when it's just me in the car. I wouldn't even attempt a center channel with a Bit One at my knowledge level.

By sensitive, do you mean flaky or is the output level higher? I wonder how much could be accomplished by changing the gains on the system so that you never have to play above 15-20 on the HU?

I'm sure I will. Can't wait to install them, looks like they're out for delivery right now. Can't wait to get home today. Hopefully the 900/5 comes in today as well. It's going to suck to be able to see them and not hear them. Maybe I'll switch it up with the MS8 powering the tweeters and the 600/4 on the mids and midbass until the new amp gets here. I'm kind of regretting selling the crossovers right now.

Thanks for all of the support through this Jerry. I've been trying to find stealthy ways to mount the 130s while keeping them up high. Nothing good so far...

Well, Call or text tomorrow after you get them in. Oh, and no matter what Erin says, they are NOT broke in yet.

Got them! I've got pictures of the packing if you're interested. Not a big deal.

These things look funny. I knew they would be small obviously but it's still surprising to see what looks like a toy 650. Very nice craftsmanship. I try and hide all of my audio stuff but if this was not a daily driver I would have them mounted in plexiglass on the dash. These things are beautiful.

The kicks are going to require a little work. The diameter of the kick is just a hair too large. People weren't kidding when they said the mounting diameter of the 3" dome is the same as a 4" cone. I might have to make another thin ring to adapt it. Also thinking of putting 2-3 metal bars in front to protect it and cloth over that to hide them.

If it weren't for all of the trouble I've had since the klippel I would send them back in after 6 months of use. I know everyone says there will be no change after break-in but I keep looking at how the suspension and BL are just a hair off center and I can't help but think this is part of the design which will center after break-in. With all of the tolerances between 0%-1.5% from 430 to 430 according to the midrange shootout, I can't imagine these being accidentally off center. The QC seems to be too good for that. Even the close second place Scan had up to 5x the variance of the Dyns from driver to driver and a more centered BL curve and suspension curve. I know the Dyns were very good in this department but I keep thinking they would be perfect if they were broken in.

Most likely the Bit One for now. I need to close that thread. I posted if FS around midnight and when I woke up I was overwhelmed with PMs.

Well, that was a really low price considering there was nothing functionally wrong with it, Like you said, no one uses all the inputs anyway.

Hey Matt,
The drivers got wet ??? Are they okay?

The h/u question finicky - real touchy.

After my current change 20 on the dial is plenty, My system prior to sending out the DSP to Matt, was at a level I haven't heard in car audio.

Another great piece for our cars is Matt's line driver, I understand he may not make them again.

Hope to have the DSP back Monday. The analog stage is finished, Its getting a new clock,a pair of 2 amp bybee music rails, a reworked power supply and a few other goodies, do a search on music rails from bybee. neat little gizmo's I have silver bullets in my home speakers and have used quantum purifiers for some time.

Gary - Are you thinking DSP or Bit.One ???

I think it was just the box that got wet. Not a big deal but at $1,600 retail I really wish it was all perfect.

Wow, sounds very serious. I'll have to google most of those items. Looking forward to hearing your results. Are you going to try and make the next meet (whenever that may be)?

And we'll definitely have to park next to each other this time.

Hey Mark,

I just posted a ebay link for what you are looking for on DIY.

Im going with the zapco DC Ref's, a 650.6 and a 1000.4.

Im just going to do the RLbeach symbilink splice for Front/Rear/Sub, then run it into a slb-u, then straight into the amps. Simple, no extra processor, no power/ground needed for the slb-u's, just two amps with a shit ton of power.

My buddy mic is going to help me get my hands dirty on the install and tune.

Im excited about it.
