JL Speakers

I have a 2007 TL and I am installing a basslink on friday plus front speakers...I've seen all the threads on polk db 651s and infinity 62.9 or whatever....does JL make anything? looking to spend no more than $300...oh yes and I'm very familiar with the search feature...Just thought some of you out there ought to know that

My Massive RK6's??

For $300...you have plenty of options. Firstly, have you sound deadened and/or sealed the door? What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to all Kinds and I plan on dynamatting the doors on friday as well...I'm not going too crazy on this...I'm not even installing an amp(I know I know)...I just want a lil bit better sound out of the front to go with the basslink...the rear is staying stock(for now) my budget of 300 is for the front speakers

That definitely might be a possibility...I need some opinions....Even though I'm not adding an amp I will still get an improvement over the stock speakers correct? Just need peoples thoughts on speakers...i.e. is it worth it to get kappas over reference if it is not going to be amplified?

The JL C2 is a nice speaker that can be had for <$300/ pr. You might find JL C3s in that neighborhood depending on the dealer. Both are far better than stock. I'd say go listen to a few and see what you like.

If you aren't amping your front stage, the improvement will not be worth the amount of money you throw at it, even if you got free speakers. I put the shallow mount polks on the factory amp due to a body shop mishap, and it was marginally better, but not something I would do again (w/o the amp). Also adding that extra tweeter on the coax exacerbates the lack of bass (which you may not experience with the basslink). I would suggest getting the basslink installed and waiting on the front stage entirely. Are you completely committed to the basslink?

The RK6 won't even move on the stock amp power. Honestly if you're not getting an amp, you're not going to be able to drive speakers worth buying to any reasonable level.

Buy one of these

$70 shipped. Spend the other $230 on speakers.

So $300

$70 amp linked above
$50 amp install kit
$20 RCA's

That leaves $160 for front comps. ID CTX65cs are right around that price.

That's basically what I would do. While I love JL's W6 and W7 subs along with their HD line of amps, I've never cared for their components too much. They're not bad but I think the ID CTX65 comps sound just as good as JL's top of the line comps.

Ok so I added a single alpine type s 12 in a "truck" box against the back seat in the trunk. I actually had to turn it down a bit...My question is since all they had to fit the truck box was a type s is there something better to put in there? it is running off of an alpine mrp-m500 so 500 watts!
