iSimple not working need help
Hey everyone,
Just had my PXAMG and PGHHD1 cable installed in my 08 TL-S. Had it professionally installed behind the radio by taking out the white plug for the xm and using the harness provided to which the OEM white plug plugs into. The firmware on the PXAMG was also checked to see if it was the latest version, which it was. All the dipswitches are in the off position (up).
The reason for the PGHHD1 cable is that the canadian TL-S don't have navtraffic therefore they have the single white plug not the two black ones as seen on the Navtraffic XM units.
The problem I'm experiencing is that the NAVI screen is unresponsive and none of the buttons for it work. The only button that responds is AM/FM. Can't even hear XM anymore. Once I put the dipswitches into the ON position (down) or change the dipset settings, the NAVI and the other features are fully functional however the IPOD setting does not exist. The ipod can be seen charging so there is power reaching the unit. Also tried disconnecting the battery and still nothing. The car was also left sitting in the ACC position for 10 minutes (the guide recommends 3 mins for it to initilize) still nothing. The other thing that happens is that no info for the radio can be seen next to clock. Only shows when the dipswitches are in another position other than up.
Any ideas? Is the unit defective or the harness?

With your car on, try unplugging the wire from the isimple unit, wait about one minute, plug it back in. Turn your car off and start right back up. It should work. Don't ask me why, it is what I used to do when everything seemed to lock up like that on mine. Called PE and they let me send it back for a new unit. It has happened since.

This is a relatively new problem as many other Canadian AZ members have installed the PXAMG before with no issues.
I got a call from an installer in Canada yesterday trying to figure things out as well. We figured that placing dip switch #2 in the ON position while the rest were off worked to "un-jam" the radio. However, he could never get the IPOD to come up. XM worked fine but could not switch over to IPOD as if the PXAMG was not even there.

That installer was working with me (and I really appreciate your help). There may be other Canadian members who don't have issues but I would like to find just ONE with an 07/08 TL-S...that's why I started the other thread.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you are having with our module. Unfortunately our module has not been tested on the Canadian models let alone the Type S Canadian models. The fact that you have the same radio and a different XM tuner than the US versions leads me to believe that it will require a software change to work properly. Without us being able to get into a Canadian version that is not possible to do. If we do come across one we will attempt to get this issue figured out and fixed.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

sorry to bring up an old thread ... but any update to this?
I too have a 2008 Canadian Type-S, and installed an isim73. This install used a pgh-hd1 harness at the front, behind the radio. (do not have xm-traffic).
I am having the same problem as the OP, XM does not see an aux ipod.
If i have all dip switches "OFF", my navi screen freezes and radio is unresponsive if I press any buttons.
If I have Dip #2 in the ON position, it "unlocks" my radio and navi for use.

Any update? I was having the same issues, PXAMG(iSim73), however I have a 2006 model(base/Navi). I just assumed the unit was bad(receiving charge to iPod but XM button remained unresponsive).
