Question iSimple folks with Navigation, easy question for you...

Quick question for the iSimple people running it with navigation, are you able to navigate the ipod (aritists/songs) on the Navigation screen? How do you like it? Does it suck?

I'm about to pull the trigger on a ipod solution and this isimple seems like a good choice but there isnt any real info on how it works for cars with navigation...here's a link to the setup on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/iSimple-Honda-Ac...item3f06a2d8dd

thanks in advance

I installed the isimple a few weeks ago but don't use the nav screen much. I think that there are some features that you can use from the screen because it uses the preset buttons and I think that they're on the screen (I'm not positive on that though). It's easier for me to use the buttons and tuning knob. I'm really happy with the isimple though.

Perfect...you can view the track titles/artist list from the nav screen though-right?

yes. All the info is displayed on the nav screen just like XM displays artist info.

I've had the iSimple for about a year now and I just discovered something with the nav screen.

I think you can do this without the audio screen, but it makes it much easier. If you press the "6" preset button, you can change the play mode. From playlists, genre, artist, etc. You can also choose the song you want.

I can't remember exactly, but "1" or "2" will change the play mode from random, repeat, etc.

I think:

1=Repeat
2=Random
3=Rewind 5 seconds (push once)
4=Forward 5 seconds (push once)
5=Push then scroll with tuning knob to change "Playlist, Album, Artist, etc"
6=Enter button to use with button 5. Then scroll again to pick from playlist, album. Enter. Then pick song. Enter.

I put mine in the upper armrest compartment. It's an old ipod with a cracked screen that is dedicated to TL use.

I gotta try this. I remember trying the 3,4 buttons, but being unhappy or unsatisfied with the results. Don't remember anything with the 5. I used 6 for everything.

When I hold the 3/4 buttons down it just beeps and I don't notice anything but if I push it once it rewinds/forwards 5 secs. Push 5 down and scroll with the tuning knob to see the different options and use 6 as the enter button then scroll again. It's a pretty cool unit.

If you have an 04-06 you should try the install method without taking the console apart. It worked well for me.

I attepted this method but it defeated me. With my eyes i couldnt see the plug well enough to remove the harness. I ended up having take the center console and driver's side kick panels off the access the plug. Broke a couple tabs but it all went back together fine. Pretty cool unit. I recommend it
