ISHD 651 Retain iPod Controls

I just purchased and installed the iSimple ISHD651 and it sounds great, only complaint is that you can't control the iPod from the controls on the iPod itself while using the "iPod USB" mode.

I have read many posts that say people can still play music and even change the track of the iPod through the head unit on "AUX" mode while retaining control from the physical iPOD but I can't get that to work. ONE OF THESE THREADS IS HERE: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/isimple-volume-820995/ post #22. I have changed the input mode on the iSimple to "AUX" and "AUX2" nothing plays out of my speakers and I cannot control the iPod with the headunit controls. I will accept that I am a dumbass and that I am doing something wrong, somebody please tell me the (most likely minuscule) thing that I am missing.

Thank you in advance!

Not sure if you tried this, but I know on the isimple I had, you needed to first go to XM1 or XM2 and once you press that button you turn your "tune" knob and it would go through the different modes for the isimple. On mine if I wanted to control the ipod from the wheel I had to go to the ipod mode. If I wanted to control from the ipod I would go to an aux mode (still within the xm setting). Hope this helps

I read from a couple posts on this website that you can control the ipod (just track forward and track backward) from the steering wheel/headunit while keeping the ipod plugged in via USB and still retain control on the ipod itself (it doesn't lock out and display the iSimple splash screen). Thats what I am looking for, and yes I have switched to Aux1 and Aux2, i can't control the ipod with the headunit and I don't hear anything when its playing. Any ideas?

Im using my samsung galaxy S4 (android) and it has no glitches. This thread pertains to the iPod controls though because I want to also use my iPod but I really don't like browsing my songs through the headunit controls
