iPod Adapter for 2007 TL-S

I've read and searched and I'm still not 100% sure about which iPod adapter will definitely work with a 3rd Gen TL-S. I'm concerned because I called a dealer who verified that the old or coming replacement Acura Musiclink will never work with the new TL-S. Any idea why, and does the same problem exist for the aftermarket units?

Thanks

nope, the acura music link was poorly designed. I have the USA SPEC HON2Y and it is perfect. I do not have any problems with it, can control it from the steering wheel and charge it at the same time. Audio quality is awesome, like cd quality. YOu will love it.

As far as I know, there are no known compatibility issues for the TL-S. It seems that if it works fine on the '04-'06 TLs, then it should work for the Type-S as well.

A summary of everything is located here: 3G TL Audio & Electronics FAQ. You may wish to perform a search to see if there are any recent issues.

My recommendation: Stay away from the Musiclink. Check out the USA Spec and (newer) DICE adapters.

I have the old... Acura Musiclink in my TLS 07... works fine but NOT worth the money at all... The interface is HORRIBLE. Any of the aftermarket units listed in the stickes should work just fine with the TLS.

Any posts with installation photos for the USA Spec? I'm a bit nervous about tearing apart the TL...I'm not mechanic and its a mid $30,000 car!

i'm just thinking out loud right now...since the '07's have cd-text, can't somebody make a new ipod interface that tricks the stereo into thinking it's a cd with text so the song and artist information will show up on the screen? here is an example of what i'm talking about:

http://www.vaistech.com/sli.html

i think companies like USASpec and Blitzsafe need to get on this soon (for the '07 owners' sake)

Icelink or some other company has the text thingy, but it disables XM.

just get an audio cord and plug one end in your ipod and the other under the armrest hookup. Seriously the cheapest way on hooking up your ipod. You have to use your ipod to scroll thru but that isn't bad at all. Save your money. Audio cord runs maybe 5 bucks.

Our fellow Acurazine member "newin96" put together a PDF a few months back with his installation photos. I couldn't find a direct link to his document, so I'm not sure he posted it anywhere on line directly, but he was glad to send a copy of it to anyone who asked. Do a search for his profile name and send him a private message.

You did look in the FAQ as posted above right?? There are 3 links there that have pictures and instructions on taking apart the dash. Here's a hint . . . this is the question:

Q: How do I access the back of the head unit to install an audio interface?

By the way, installation was a piece of cake. It took me about 30 minutes total. Take off a few panels, unplug the cable, plug in the new one, run the wires . . . and done. It's easy.
