Installion Of PIE X3

Do you think the installation of the PIE X3 will be difficult to do? The only thing i think i will have trouble with is powering the device. I dont really get how to do that. How much do you think a reputable shop should charge me for the installation of the PIE X3? I'm in southern california.
Thanks

It's not difficult. You might need to take apart the car to get to the plug behind the head unit and to mount the brain and/or switch. Other than that, nothing too difficult. Mini add-a-circuit or just tap into the front power outlet to power it.

Where are your located in SoCal?

Here is my installation thread to help you get some ideas.

IMO, do some research and its an easy DIY. There are many threads with pictures and helpful info on here.

luniz97 had issues with getting his USA Spec to work. He's just a little bitter.

The USA Spec works well for many and his case is one of those instances that you get with every module.

Each product has advantages over the other. Its just personal preference... like many things.

How much do you think a shop should charge me for the installation of this? I really dont feel comfortable tapping in to get power for the PIE X3. If anyone knows any good shops in the Fullerton area it would be helpful.
Thanks

it's really not worth the money to have someone install it. All you need is to make sure you have the power wire, to ground wire, and squeeze connectors from your local electronics store (or radio shack). Also, (I don't know if you HAVE to, but i do it anyways), unplug the battery.

Not worth paying someone to do the install. Read up on how members have installed theirs and just take it slow.

The mini add-a-circuit route will not require you to tap/splice any factory wires. I didn't unplug the battery during my install.

With time and patience, you can do it!

Haha, I'm glad I kept reading, I was about to make my own post about this, but datmrman, where does the mini-add-a-circuit go to and how does it work?

You can use fuse slot #32 in the fuse box in the driver's side well.

The mini add-a-circuit looks like this:

After hunting for it for a while, I found it at AutoZone.
