Installing Subs Questions. Help PLZ

I honestly dont know how to install subs. but my brother is gonna help me. but i dont want him to mess up my car. So what im gonna get is a Alpine type R sub with alpine mrp500. Do i just throw all the stuff in my trunk? hook up amp and sub. then run the power cable from the amp to the battery? then amp wire to the back of my navigation?

Its alot more work than that. First off how many subs are you using? Which enclosure? Do you know how to do the basic wiring?

And your going to have to get some kind of LOC for the sub. You cannot just take the wiring of the stock sub into the sub amp.

The remote turn on is not just wiring to the back of the nav...far from it. I used a switch 12volt source near the nav system in the trunk.

Educate yourself as much as you can before you do ANYTHING. There are TONS of topics on here involving what you are asking.

like i said my brother knows how to do the basic wiring of the Amp+sub and the power cable to the battery. But the other wires that would normally go back to the CD deck, where do those go. i kno you need a LOC. Do the wires connect to that and that gets connected to the stock Sub wires?

LOC from the stock sub in the rear deck will work.

You can get the remote wire by using an add-a-fuse on #32.

If you have Type-S, then you need to disconnect the noise canceling microphone.

Do yourself a favor and research this topic. Unless you or your brother has the understanding of LOCs, remote turn-on with near zero voltage, and tapping into a factory harness, you will be kicking yourself. If you decide to have a shop do it, make sure they have experience with your car. I say this from my recent experience of aftermarket install. I am making my 7th and hopefully final trip to the shop to have my "basic" upgrade completed.

yes please research since u don't know how to do it and u don't want your brother messing it up and by saying that means he doesn't know how to do it either really. It's not very hard to do though simple research and u will be fine

just extend stock sub wires n plug them into amp... for the remote turn on easiest thing to do is shove a wire into one of the fuses that is only energized when car is on... theres only one or two in driverside fuse block.. use a meter or test light to determine if its on when car is off and vise versa. Then just wrap ur remote wire around one of the leads and jam it back into place.

type-s is more complicated

And yeah I know its ghetto, but i had mine hooked up like this before really upgrading and its cheap and easily reversable and invisible

Best to get a LOC for couple reasons. The sub input to your amp could overload the direct line input. LOC takes (not only wires to RCA) but keeps the gain input very low 3-5 volts where as regular is 9 volts i think. Plus what if one day you get another amp that does not have speaker level inputs?
