The install was easy accept for me being a little retarded. All the wires are soldered by the rear unit. When I first hooked it up it was not coming up on the screen clear(it was blury). I couldnt figure it out. I called Dom and he was stumped too. He said to check the power light. No power. It was hooked up to the fuse box and I couldnt figure it out. I pulled the plug out and their was a peice of styrofoam stuck between . have no idea how that got their. after that it was all set. I installed my ps2 slimeline in the glove box that I made a custom moun for. I used the Blitz adapter for audio and everything works beautifully. thanks to dom I am up and running. (Sorry about my ignorance dom if your reading). Doms converter works well and I would recomend it to anyone.

Make sure you have a good ground and that all wires are securely soldered. Any play in any wire will make it a little distorted.

When you hooked up the blitzsafe unit, how did you wire it?

RCA Plugs to Blitzsafe unit and then the Blitzsafe harness to the White plug behind the head unit? If so, then what do you when you want to listen to the audio from your PS2? do you have to press the XM Button?

No the XM button does nothing now. i have to press the cd/tape button twice and it works just fine. The display shows cd-c when i do this and the sound works perfectly.

Is blitzsafe the best unit in the market right now? I personally don't care about XM...I had it for the first 3 months and never made use of it...so I'm okay if I loose that...

are there any other units that would work just fine but maybe a little cheaper?

if you don't mind me asking, how much did the unit cost you?

Thanks,
Jinen

blktl1,

Do you have any pics of your PS2 install? I'm curious cuz I have it too, but would like to see how you did it. Is the PS2 your only audio source, so you go from the audio out of the PS2 directly to the Blitzsafe? Do your controller plugs fit and you can still close the glovebox? I had to modify the connectors to make them fit... Please post pics if you have any.

Yeah I agree with the XM. it sucks and I never used it so it was a waste.

I dont have pics right know but I will take some. I just left the controllers to be on the wire with the glove box open. That did not matter that much to me. I will take pics if I get home from school at a resonable hour tonight.

You mean about 20 for three ours of your time(you forgot beer). Why aren't people still using the Vsokolov unit? I would like to know as I would like to install a rear view camera at some point.

I installed vokslovs unit on the weekend, installed perfectly, plug and play in about 20 minutes. No wires to cut to holes to make.

So far so good

people were having problems with his unit, and i got Dom's unit because his store is in brooklyn, so if i had a problem it's a 20 minute drive from my house

Yeah I have the vsokolov unit and sometimes the brightness freaks out so I have to go manually adjust it from the unit which means removing part of the trunk liner. It's a SERIOUS pain in the butt. I'm reconsidering the AV Electronic unit, but don't have the cash for it now...

Sorry guys I got home real late from school last night so I didnt get a chance to take any pics. I will try and do it today before i go out for my friends 21st. I dont know if I can take any more 21st birthday parties as i have had mine a week ago and three others since then. but any way. for the mount all I did was find a 2 inch thick peice of styro foam and cut it to shape of the glove box for a flush and snug fit. Then I traced the PS2 in the center of the styro foam. then I covered it with speaker box carpet and the it fits pretty good. It looks acceptable to me but not perfect. it still needs work to make it perfect.

Don't you hear a lot of squeaks with the styrofoam?

A little but it is only temporary. I have a design i which I am going to be making a bunch to sell to people on the thread to fit custom in the glove box and not move and look like a factory fit . I am going to let everyone know when i am done with the product. I dont think I am going to be able to make it so you can keep glove box closed when controllers are plugged in but it will look like it belongs. the one I have is good but ou can tell that it is not perfect. It seems like everyone is looking for something like this so I came up with an idea and hopefully it works. will keep everyone informed

I modified the controller so that I can close the glovebox... I have two controllers, one wireless, one not. The wireless one I hacked at the transceiver to separate the plug from the circuit. Here's a pic from my site:

There's a lot more at my site (link below).

I modified the wired controller as well just by removing the sheath around the controller wire.

It's nice cuz when watching movies, you can close the glovebox and still control the movie from the wireless remote.

Too bad the glovebox isn't one inch deeper.

I am trying to make it look pretty and be functional. I am also trying to design it so you have to do very little cutting in the glove box. I will try my best to work with your conversion. I will let you know how it works out. I will show everyone what I did and if you guys want it then I will make a bunch to sell.

The tricky part is actually plugging in the wires when putting it in there. :P

The tricky part is making those two little stops on the side of the glove box easy to put in after the mount is installed.

You need two different units. One for Video (i.e. Dom's unit is for sale in the group buy section) and one for Audio if you want Audio to come over the stereo.

OK, if I get the DOM navi-tv convertor, how do you wire audio if you are using XM? I have the XM working, and I do use it, so wheer would I route audio to?

TIA,
John

Use the PIE X3 Aux input as seen here

https://acurazine.com/forums/automotive-news-6/gm-2005-hydra-matic-6-speed-129030/

You get 3 audio inputs while keeping xm

I have another question, not sure if it should be in a new thread or not.

I'm looking at putting in a DVD-ME3 from Blaupunkt. I've measured this unit and its pretty sizeable (17.5cm x 19.8cm x 6cm) and I don't think this will fit in the glovebox. How exactly do you fit anything in that tiny glovebox!, does the whole glovebox detach so you can work on it? how did you get the holes in it for the cabling?

Thanks
