Install a CarPC for me - CA only
Install a CarPC for me - CA only
I have a non-navi. I would really like to get a carputer installed into the car. Would anyone in California be interested in doing such an assignment for me. Of course I'm willing to compensate you for the parts and services. I'm not very savy with electronic hardware, nor am I good with auto parts. If I was, I would have already made an attempt to do it myself. Seeing that there are a few people on this board who has done a successful install, I was hoping that someone in CA would be able to hook me up.
Please let me know.
Please let me know.

awww.. man... i was at the meet.. i totally missed your car...
thinking about converting non- navi to navi..
but after reading up on carputer.. whats the benifits of coverting.. non-navi to navi or carputer/????
Sorry I showed up kinda late.. 2pm. Had some problems since I was detailing my car in the morning.
Well non-navi to carputer conversion.. to me its a no-brainer. =)
1- probably cheaper than converting to a navi... if you're doing the labor yourself.
2- gps navigation, play mp3s with virtually unlimited storage .. just get bigger HDs., play videos, dvd's. If you have innternet connection via dialup using your cellphone, broadband wireless card, or wi-fi for that matter... you can have real-time traffic, weather and web surfing of course. I recently added HDTV over the air. I have access to over 40 channels in my area, in high quality HD definition. No comparison to analog tv tuners. which is basically what you buy out there.
3- you can easily connect a rear-view camera as well which auto turns on when you put the car on reverse.
I don't recommend anyone with little knowledge on computers or basic car audio on doing this... because since its a computer, you will always be updating, configuring, adding stuff. Your ability to do that yourself will save you lot of money as opposed to you asking someone else to do it.
I'm sure everyone who has done this agree with me that this is labor intensive but the benefits are endless....
THis is the 4th time i've installed a carputer in my car or a family member and no matter how many times you do it, it ain't no cookie cuter =)
Check out www.mp3car.com. Thats the hub of carputing. Read the faqs in the forums and find out what carputing is all about.

I went to the dealership to try to get them to install nav on my 05. They basically laughed at me and told me to buy an 07 with nav.
I am totally leaning towrads getting a carputer and have seen two different types. There was one that is double din and would prob fit into the air/radio display area and then there was system with monitor.
Anyone have any suggestions or advice?

My roadrunner skin uses the flash traffic map from traffic.com.
I got one website for you to fulfill your carPC questions.
