Infinity 1031t tweeters
Hi everyone, I've been a long time member and just previuosly sold my 03 type-S for an 06 TL. I love my new 3rd gen TL. I've been doing some research on upgrading my tweeters and found that many people upgraded to the infinity ref 1011t (4 ohm) tweeters. So I ordered a set and got the new version (ref 1031t) instead. I actually received 2 sets by mistake.... These are 2 ohm (box states 3 ohm) and have a sensitivity of 93dB. I was unsure about installing these since they weren't 4 ohms. I spoke to techs at Infinity and Crutchfeild, and they both assured me that these would work fine and not cause any problems. So, I went ahead and installed them.
I love the sound, they are so clear and actually louder. I used the supplied inline crossover. Also changed the center channel for a Boston S35. Definitely worth the upgrade

I'm glad u like the infinity's do you have any harshness at high volumes? I'm in the market for some morel tweeters but haven't gotten any feedback on the forum yet so i might just get them and take a chance

I'm not getting any harshness at loud volumes. I had to turn them down (tremble) because they are louder than the stock tweeters. I was a little worried that they would sound harsh because they were textile dome instead of silk domes. But after speaking to the Infinity and Crutfeild techs, they assured me that they would sound the same.

I ran the 1021 textile dome tweeters for a year. They were ok but definately on the harsh side at high volumes. The new ID ones I have now are more detailed and at the same time less harsh. If you're powering them with the stock amp, they aren't so harsh, it's when you put some power to them that it gets annoying.

FWIW I have the 1021ts - I think they're harsh at higher volumes- "hissy" is the best word to describe them. They did drop right in so I had that goin' for me. Which was nice.
If I get a 3sixty I might try to chop that edge off. If not, what are some alternative drop-ins to consider?

If you haven't sold them in a month or so I'll probably take them for my girlfriend.
