Hey guys I'm planning on doing a full audio upgrade install on my 04 TL. I happen to have a eclipse sub sitting around and was wondering if it would work in IB?

Here are the stats.

Max Power Handling 1500W
Fs 20.5Hz
Qts 0.45
DCR 4Ω+4Ω
Vas 2.5 cu ft
Xmax (one way) 15mm

I can't see a reason why it wouldn't. It looks like it would be just fine.

Got a basic board made, ill try and post some pictures later today. Only thing I don't feel to sure about is do I need to router out a edge and mount the sub flush or can it be out an inch from the board or does that make it to close to the back of the seat?

I used two 3/4" sheets of mdf and recess mounted the sub to the back sheet.

Hey, if you want to buy a real nice sub made for IB I've got my hands on the new acoustic elegance spb-15 which replaced the IB15. I actually had a jacked up is300 that I was going to put it into but it was totaled last week. The sub hasn't even seen a minute of playing time yet and was built less then 4 months ago. Obviously I have no use for it now and I'd love to let it go to an acura driver lmk if you or anyone's interested.

Just curious, for the IB setup, you plug up the stock sub hole with the stock sub or MDF etc?

@djtsmith007 if you we're no longer going to utilize the stock subwoofer then IMO I would remove it. I would place a layer of sound deadener between some mdf board and the sub hole to ensure no rattling. Not sure what the parameters of the stock sub location are but this technique worked great on my other cars.

Does the wall between the trunk and the backseat need to be airtight or just as sealed as possible?
