I don't think the digital audio stands for dvd-audio. If you can use nero (or some other software) to convert mp3's to wav's, you can use the trial version of cirlinca to burn those wav's on a dvd-a for free.

I have an old version of roxio easy cd creator which has a component called soundstream. I used soundstream to convert a ton of mp3's to wav's all at once. It went much faster than I expected.

I then dl'ed the trial version of cirlinca which allows I think 7 dvd-a creations before you have to register it. I burned 3 dvd-a discs (on sony dvd-r) with about 90-95 tracks on each in about 30 minutes total. They played in my '04 TL on the first attempt. I did not spend a penny. Hope that helps? Good luck!

You can also use Adobemans Scripts to create DVD-A discs. (Albeit 2 channel) it works. I've created a number of dics using his process averaging 97-94 songs. Check it out and best of all, it's FREE. You might also wanna check this thread for more info and what others members say about it.

I've been using Disc Welder and an MP3 to WAV converter program to make the WAVs (since my Disc Welder will only ready .WAV files). Disc Welder is pricy (but you can snake it off Usenet should you choose) and I understand there are now cheaper DVD-Audio authoring tools, but DW has worked great for me. Of course I have no 5.1 channel sources...all of the MP3's are 2 channel only but it makes it so I can put nearly 100 songs on a single DVD-A and group them by chapter.

Why are you guys limiting yourselves to 99 songs or less? You can fit 4.3 GB worth of files, so if you have say 120 or 170 or 250 tracks, you can split them up into groups. You can have 99 tracks per group, and a maximum of 9 groups PER DVD!

BlueSteel is correct, Nero does not do DVDA.

I think most realize that while you certainly can fit more than 99 by using additional groups it isn't always what folks want to do.

Depending on the songs it can be hard to get more than 99. It really depends on how long the songs are on average. The Beatles ? probably clear 99 songs on a DVDA easily. Pink Floyd ? Might not hit 70.

Groups are a PITA to change in the TL. SCAN-RPT isn't so bad. I just wish the player moved to the next group on a disc rather than just going to the next disc when a group is over. Not the end of the world, just a bit cumbersome. I'd probably use groups a whole lot more if the HU would play all groups on disk before moving on to the next disc.

I guess it all gets more important once you start using DL discs. With >8G space you will really need to use groups.

Your limited to what the disc holds. If your 99 songs in Group 1 come out to 4.2GB, where are you gonna put the rest of 'em?

I know that already, didn't you read my post? It sounded like you guys were not using the groups (as if you were unaware you could use them). I thought that you might have 99 songs totalling around 3.8GB, for instance, then you can still have more on group 2. Sorry to attempt to help people out.

Yeah, groups are a little annoying, but I'd rather hit the buttons to change a group than to have to keep hitting a track forward button to get to track "83." I put the Police boxset onto a DVD along with their 2 CD live album. I put the 76 tracks of the box on group 1, and the live album with it's 30 or so tracks on group 2 as I would be able to fit over 99 tracks on one disc.

By the way Adobeman - I made a 20 second track of silence that I stick on the end of every group that gives me time to hit the buttons (in case I forgot the last song in the group came on and I wasn't ready to hit the buttons before the next disc came on).

Chill man, I think most of the folks are very much aware of "groups" and probably choose not to use them as well as disc limitations. I try to max out the disc and can get on an average of 88-96 tracks, maybe more depending on what I'm ripping. On occasion, I'll use them. Thanks for your input.

Has it been confirmed that the TL can play DL discs? If so which kind, DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL. I have a stack of DVD+R DL waiting to go if so.

I see what you mean. Good luck doing that with a bunch of Yes songs. They have at least 10 songs that are over 15 minutes long.

This is probably a dumb question, but how do you select the different Groups when you play them in the TL? I made a DVD using Cirlinca and put one album under each of the groups I created. When I play it in the TL you can only click through the tracks of the 1st group and then it returns to track one. Any help would be appreciated.

Press SCAN and RPT together for a few seconds.
