Question How to properly turn on Voice Command function???

Sorry, my question seems a bit of weird, I dont think the owner manual mentions anything about turn on Voice Command, it should turn on when key turn to I or II.

But my car, however, sometime voice command wont work (press the command button but no beep, but in dignostic check the two button works perfectly), especially after parked for a while. And it does work if I turn it off and on again. why???

The navi has to be on for the voice command to work for some functions.

Thanks, I did wait til I can see the map and press the command button, but no response and no beep. It seems like it often fail to function on the first start and normally working well after a restart....FAINT...

All voice commands will work with the Navi off.
The driver just needs to pull the voice command switch 2x in quick succession to activate voice commands when the Navi is not active.

What he means is that the Navi screen has to have come on when you turned the key, even if you then let the screen blank itself by not hitting "OK" on the nag screen or if you turn the display off after hitting "OK" (say if you're outside of Navi coverage).

Or, to put it differently, in order to use the voice commands, the ignition key must be turned to a position at which the Navi screen can come on, even if you choose to keep the screen turned off.

Ahhh, you're right, both about OP's question and the answer.

Now, I want to know why one would use voice commands if parked...

I've used "climate control off" and "radio off" after pulling into the garage on occasion, usually if I'm fumbling around with something else at the same time like putting away my sunglasses or closing a window. Or if I'm starting up the car and I know have a list of places on "Today's Destinations" (this does not happen very often, mind you), I may use the voice command to activate that.

Sounds like something's wrong with your Navi. I've never had that problem, so I can't help you.

Curious, is the battery on your car seeming low after sitting for 3-4 days? Reason i ask is there is an issue with the Bluetooth Module which is part of the Navi system and im wondering if that bluetooth module is also part of the voice module. Replacement cost is about $700-800.

thank you all for reply my post, i am so confused actually, cuz HFL works perfectly, I mean I can use all voice command with HFL system, while general voice command is not working...

example, I push key to II, wait navi to load and press voice command button (small ones) no beep... and I pair my phone with HFL, press phone button everything works just as it supposed to...
of course as I mentioned before after a restart everything back to normal.

I should say I did update my navi to 2.49 2011, with a hacked welcome screen and USA disk. I am in Canada I supposed I should use Canada and Nothern USA disk, not the USA disk... right?
