HID/ Osram 66240 D2S CBI comparison

Was seeing what people thought about these Osram 66240 D2S CBI bulbs. I now have 6k aftermarket HIDS 35w. They are bright but I feel like they aren't bright enough. Just getting opinions

I don't think anyone here will argue that either the Osram CBI or SVS bulbs are the best depending on color temp preference. I just ordered a set of Osram Nightbreakers (successor to the SVS) and I look forward to throwing up a small review on here.

Your 6K aftermarkets will look like crap compared to the 66240 CBI's. Your bulbs are 6K which already have less light output than a 35 watt 4300K bulb.

New 4300K HID bulbs give off around 3200 lumens of light when new. A comparable 6K bulb gives off around 3000 lumen of light because of the extra blue tint on the bulb. The OSRAM 66240's give off around 3500 lumens of light at 5K color rating.

The new bulbs won't be as blue/white as your current ones, but will be a bit brighter. If you want to save 50% and don't care about the color, you can get the Philips 85122 bulbs that are 4300K (factory color) and output 3200 lumens.

Also beware that your projectors could possibly be going bad! Sometimes the inner "bowl" of the project that is supposed to reflect light forward can get burnt/scorched and reduce light output. Normally this happens under high heat settings (like running a 55W HID bulb) but it's been known to happen with some cheaper 35W HID bulbs.

I was on the fence about the CBIs for months. I finally pulled the trigger last November and don't regret it, these bulbs are awesome. They're much brighter than the stock bulbs and they give off a whiter light which I love without a hint of blue once they're all warmed up.

I got my set from TRS and I believe I got another 15% or 20% off with the coupon code acurazine
