Speaker set replacement

looking to potentially upgrade my cars speakers

according to crutchfield there is only 1 replacement for the fronts due to shallowness?

also, when people replace the 4 speakers in the 3rd gen TL do they bother replacing the speakers on top of dashboard? if so, with what?

links would be appreciated

Should be able to fit just about anything in the door locations with some rather easy modification. I believe you have 3.5" of depth space without a spacer. With a 3/4" spacer/mounting ring you would have 4.25" depth. People have 8 and 9" speakers in there. IMO, changing the tweeters on the dash would be the best value change if you want to do something simple.
