Angry HFL Voice recognition problems

I am trying to enter some numbers in my phone book (2006 TL) and am having a hard time. It recognizes about half my numbers and then it sometimes adds a long string of numbers or pauses to what I have said,....in short - just screws up what I say. Anyone else have a problem with the voice recognitiion thing? I'm in the south - maybe this car was manufactured "up north!" hehe

Up north, eh? Maybe that's what it's all aboot, then, eh?

I found that if I RESIST the urge to slow down when saying numbers, it actually recognizes them better. Instead of pausing for a second or two in between numbers, try saying them in a steady stream.

I have similar experience. It seems only about 50% reliable. My solution is to work slowly and only add 3 numbers at a time, verify them and then add the next section. doing it this way, you can back up if it guesses wrong on the block of 3 numbers and not loose the numbers you earlier entered!

My other car is a: 71Chally

My HFL works well and is at its best when I just rattle off the numbers as if leaving the number on someone's voicemail/answering machine.

Otherwise, if I try to enunciate numbers slowly and clearly, the HFL will enter improper numbers!

After getting HFL module replaced on my 04 TL, I can rattle off the numbers at pretty much any speed in pretty much any road noise conditions. I still get 95-100% recognition rate.

There must be something wrong with your HFL unit (or with your pronounciation :-) )

Is there a field upgrade for the HFL

I wonder if the module you had installed is in fact an '04 HFL or if you got a field upgrade? From my discussion with HFL support, it seems that there is an awareness of problems with the systems, but no published upgrade plan. A warranty replacement might include an upgrade though. Service parts are often upgraded to fix problems. Honda issued a whole new Power Door Engineering kit to fix a problem with my Odyssey a few years ago!
